Caddynut
I posted a couple of weeks ago and the E046 CODE on my 92 Seville is becoming more prominent. Where is the fuel pressure regulator located at? Does any one else know what else it could be? It doesn't seem to affect the way the car runs, but I would like to get it fixed. adallak
Look around throttle body between the latter and distributor. It is located horizontally. BTW, I do not know E046 code. Where did you get that? E048 code is common, which is EGR system problem. It is usually fixed with cleaning two EGR tubes inside the throttle body, fixing vacuum tubes, replacing EGR solenoid and/ or EGR valve. Caddynut
Well, I found the FPR and there is no evidence of leaking onto the manifold. Could the diaphram in it possibly be cracked...worn out and it is causing the fuel to be sent to the injectors at different pressures causing the code? I might have to snag another one and see if that cures the problem. Any recommendations on changing it? Thanks. 2008 BMW 328xi 2007 Chrysler Aspen 2001 Cadillac Seville STS 2000 Ford Ranger XLT1998 Mitsubishi Spyder Convertible 1996 Saturn SC-11991 Ford F-1501979 Chevrolet Caprice1968 Ford LTD1965 VW Beetle "Herbie The Love Bug Replica** 1961 VW Beetle
rcirobin
When I had the 046 code it turned out to be bad wires. They were leaking sparks. Check your wires, cap and plugs. Also check the coil and the cap that covers it. My coil cover was also leaking. ....Rob

No, if the diaphram is ruptured, you will see fuel leaking from the vacuum nipple when the fuel system is pressurized.
BodybyFisher
I dont see this as a FPR or EGR issue, look at the code P046 (E046) .................................. Right to Left Bank Fueling Difference There is a difference between banks, to me that signals that you have injectors that are either leaking or clogged. Look at your exhaust if its black if you are running rich. As Rob mentioned above his ignition wires were leaking high voltage and probably conflicting with the injectors...albeit, there is your FUELING DIFFERENCE... You could pick up your fuel rail, have a helper turn the key on and look for a leaky injector, but its not as easy on the 4.9 if I recall... I would have a look at my injector/ignition wire arrangements Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

adallak
Caddynut, Send me your email address and I'll email to you the diagnostics procedure for E046. The file is too big to post here. Possible culprits are oxygen sensor, PCM, fuel injector flow. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent

Right to Left Bank Fueling Difference Vacuum leak perhaps? Very good thought. It would be in the intake manifold in order to affect one BANK over the other BANK, you think? Also I forget, will the 4.9 OBDI system post a code for a bad O2 Sensor, or is this an indication something is wrong with an O2 Sensor as Adallak notes..? Ranger
Dunno Mike, my guess would be that the intake manifold on a 4.9 is rather unlikely, though anything is possible. I was thinking more along the kines of a vacuum hose, but I'm not sure if that would affect one bank more than the next. Not sure about the O2 sensor.
