CoupeDTS
I used to own a 99 STS. Great car. Then I fell in love with the newer devilles. So I started test driving and a drove a 01 DHS. It was so darn smooth feeling compared to my STS cause of the luxury ride compared to sporty ride. Of course i bought a DTS in the end cause of the power and other options but I always remember the DHS's ride. Am I imagining things or does the DHS ride differently than my DTS? And if so what's different? Different settings on the air ride? Was it just the bigger tires on the DHS? Cause I wouldnt mind that DHS suspension. Any clue? Ranger
I think the DHS has passive shocks and the DTS has Magnaride. That may be a part of the difference. I never test drove a DTS so I can't really compare, but what you say is what I expected so I was not even interested in the DTS. I can vouch for the DHS being very soft. Thanks I agree, Juiced, I also had a '99 STS. No other car has come close since! The '99 had Stabilitrac, which is a generation behind the Magnaride... As an example, I viewed a video showing a Corvette hitting a speed bump @ 60 mph with the Magnaride turned off and on... Difference is, THE TIRE NEVER LEFT THE GROUND AT 60 MPH OVER A SPEED BUMP with the Magnaride on! Wrap your head around that! I love the Stabiltrac. It kept the nose from diving, and kept me out of the ditch all winter... Cannot wait to find another one... My .02, jim
GreenMachine
Your 99 has continuously variable road sensing suspension. which is the predecessor to magneride, magnetic ride control. Stabiltrak is an advanced system that works with ABS and traction control to keep the car in a strait line should it start to under-steer or over steer or simply begin to spin. The Green's Machines 1998 Deville - high mileage, keeps on going, custom cat-back exhaust 2003 Seville - stock low mileage goodness! 2004 Grand Prix GTP CompG - Smaller supercharger pulley, Ported Exhaust Manifolds, Dyno tune, etc 1998 Firebird Formula - 408 LQ9 Stroker motor swap and all sorts of go fast stuff
