krazyhorse
Hello, I had the transmission replaced last Jan. 05 in my car.I went to pick it up and noticed immediately that there was a ground strap that was left loose the way all my gauges were acting crazy, but I had to get on to work.I carried it back and they kept it almost two weeks before they found what ever it was.The shop guy did confirm it was a ground. The trans that was put in had not been retrofitted with the upgrade kit for the tcc solenoid,so therefore I got the po741 code again less than a year later and had to go through another trans job but this time mine was done locally and upgraded so I felt good, that was in Feb of this year. Yesterday the gauges started to go crazy again and I have spent the afternoon hunting for the culprit loose ground.Any one heard of this so I can pinpoint the search? All systems are normal ane functioning, just have the gas, outside temp, seatbelt chime, door ajar chime, lying . I'm about 40 miles from the dealer so I would like to find it myself. Unless the ecm is going bad and not making a ground I dont know. They didn't change it last time and it is doing the exact same as before. thanks Alan
jhall
Alan, Pull the negative lead off the battery and take the contact rings out of the rubber boot. Check to make sure there is no corrosion. If so, clean with a toothbrush and a water /baking soda mixture. Other grounding "bugs" can cause incorrect readings, so if the above does not work, you'll need to start looking closer. Keep us posted
