dbattan
Help? my 92 deVille head lights stays on after turning engine off. I have tried and did turn off the twighlight sentinel switch and the main head light switch stays off as well. All of the parking, brake and tail lamps work and function normally. In order to save my battery, I am forced to remove the fuse that turns the head lights off. At night I plug the fuse back in so tha head lights work. I do know where the fuse that control the light is and that is the only way I can turn it off to save my battery when I park my car. But that is a lot of work. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it. Is there modules that control it and how do I get to it to replace it? A technician told me it probably is a module but wanted me to bring it to the dealer so that they can scan it to be sure. He also mentioned the sensor on the dash board might not be working and it might be the problem. Can anyone give me some help as to how to fix it ? I appreciate your help Thanks
MAC
The first thing you should do is check for trouble codes. In case you don't know about the on-board diagnostics, below is the procedure: To enter diagnostic mode: 1. Turn ignition "ON." 2. Depress the "OFF" and "WARMER" buttons on the Climate Control Center (CCC) simultaneously and hold until the segment check appears on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). After you have cycled through, here is the GM Diagnostic Trouble Code List, which will tell you what the codes mean. You will have to scroll down in order to get to the list. Let us know what you find, if anything.
Ranger
Definately check the DTC's first, but my guess would be a faulty headlamp switch. If it where the sensor it would not affect the lights after the ignition is shut down, only while running, and then only in the twighlight mode.
