lefig
Hi, my name is Rob, I live in Billerica, MA and just purchased my first Cadillac. I have been driving my wife's minivan lately and my last two cars were Toyota 4runner's. It is a 1993 Cadillac STS with 173k that I purchased for $800. It is black with a black interior and mostly everything works. I had to put in a new exhaust from the cat back but I still think I have an exhaust leak somewhere. The front HVAC blower motor is non responsive, seems like it could use some suspension work, the Delco Gold radio cd-player is broke, but other than that it is fine. This thing is one fast car. My kids love the thing. I will submit pictures of it. I just wanted to introduce myself as I will be hitting this forum up with questions. At first this was just going to be a temporary vehicle until i purchased another SUV, but now I'm not so sure. Thanks Rob
JasonA
Rob, welcome! My '97, with almost as many miles as yours, is my daily driver and I don't care to trade it for anything, save for a different Cadillac possibly (but not even that). With good maintenance, these cars will virtually last forever. And they are rather quick for their size, yes. Certainly not your father's Cadillac! BodybyFisher
Rob the HVAC fan is a weakpoint in these cars. Mine has been replaced and I have a 96 Deville... Many have had problems with theirs. One problem is, that the spark plug wires lean up against the controller board and the EMF damages sensitive electronic components on the board.. It also could be that yours died with age. Usually not a fun job to replace. If you want to try to buy a used one, I have used this site http://www.car-parts.com Welcome aboard... BTW forget the SUV, I am sure you have now that you have the STS Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Ed Hall
The HVAC fan on mine began running slow then it quit altogether. All that was wrong with it was it needed lubrication. It has been over a year since I lubricated it and it is still working fine.
