Ed Hall
On ebay, you can buy a redesigned water pump replacement kit that includes a redesigned pump cover. I notice that on my 1993 Allante, the pump cover is made of plastic. Is this plastic cover a problem ready to rear its ugly head. Also, this kit works on 95 and newer engines. Why isn't it applicable for earlier engines? Ebay Link - Click Here!!!
epricedright
I'm not sure about that pump, but I've done business with the seller (a Caddy and/or GM dealer in IL if my memory serves me right)...No problems at all.
Cadillac Jim
The 1993-1994 270/295 hp engine isn't quite the same as the 1995-1999 275/300 hp engine in several ways. I don't know all of the differences; others will likely chime in here. What I do know is that the metal intake manifold of the 270/295 hp was replaced with a plastic intake manifold for the 275/300 hp, and that the EGR passages in the heads are blocked off in the 1995-1999 engine in favor of an external EGR. I suspect that there is a difference in the water pump belt and tensioner. If they are offering a retrofit kit for the 1995-1999, they probably offer one for the 1003-1994 also. GreenMachine
when the dealer replaced my water pump (it was witner, cold, and my father decided to just have it done there) they replaced the pump, and the cover, I know this since before I know it wasn't shiny silver and after it was very clean and new looking, all shiny aluminum. It was listed on the invoice as "Waterpump and waterpump kit" or something like that.
