Ed Hall
Could someone with a repair manual for a 93-94 Eldorado/Seville w/ Northstar engine look up the the measurements for checking whether or not the subframe is bent. There should be a page in the repair manual that gives these measurements. I have a 93 Allante which uses the same subframe and I suspect that it is bent. I would like to measure it before having it repaired or possibly just replacing it.
Cadillac Jim
The 1997 engine subframe is likely the same. The 1997 FSM page 10-3-5 gives these dimensions (all in millimeters): A: 1102 B: 866 C: 1152 D: 1057 X: 1546 X1: 1365 The figures show definitions of the letters as follows. They show the subframe from the bottom. A: Distance between centers of the front mounting holes. B: Distance between centers of the inside rear mounting holes. C: Distance between centers of the outside rear mountiong holes. D: Distance between centers of the front and outside rear mounting holes, measured front to back. X: Distance between centers of front and outside rear mounting holes, measured diagonally. X1: Distance between centers of front and inside rear mounting holes, measured diagonally. Tolerances are 3 mm, plus or minus. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. Ed Hall
Jim, Thanks for looking that up for me. The 1997 engine subframe has a different part # but I suspect it could be due to something as simple as different bolt holes. I'll try doing some measurements. Cadillac Jim
You have a beautiful car. A 1993 Allante with the Northstar has been my dream car for a lot of years. Good luck with it. If someone has a 1993 or 1994 FSM they can simply look at my numbers and tell us whether or not they are the same for 1993.
