epricedright
I just returned from Florida this week, and am happy to report the Caddy performed like a dream...smooth as a babies butt! Drove like a new Caddy...no problems what so ever. That preventive maintenance I did apparently paid off. The AC worked flawlessly (ice cold) and no over heating issues this time. Burned/leaked 1/3 qt of oil driving 1700 miles and averaged around 26-27 mpg on the highway, 23 mpg overall. I Love my Caddy!

epricedright
Thanks Mike! It was nice for a change as that was not the case in my previous two road trips; the first one I had starter problems, and the second one I had overheating problems. Needless to say, I was starting to think the Caddy was jinxed on road trips. It was a nice reassurance to learn that wasn't the case.
BodybyFisher
You did a lot of PM before your trip, that is my habit also. Before my three long trips this summer of 1000 miles each, I did major work before each... It makes a big difference on performance and your confidence level... When I pulled into Virginia Beach July 3 in bumper to bumper traffic, in 98 degree heat and my coolant temp was 233 to 238 after driving 450 miles, I was unphased by it... Constant PM on old cars is very important. This is something I learned from working at Sun Shipbuilding and Drydock, "replace it before it breaks" its never a convenient time if it does break. I've learned PM is paramount, and not just with vehicles, but anything mechanical that is depended upon.
