Install auto dim rear view mirror

For some reason my 92 Eldo didn't come with the auto dim mirror so I am going to install one, I was just wondering if the wiring for the mirror is already there so all I have to do is pull down the sunglasses holder and cut a little hole in the cloth and connect the wires?

I believe that the autochromic mirrors were standard in 1997. The Cadillac History page for 1992 shows the "auto day-night rearview mirror" as a $110 option.

I would suspect that the wiring harness is the same for all models. Of course, you can tell for sure by taking off the mirror and looking for a connector.

My dad's 91 Olds Toronado had it "standard" too... I'm betting the someone deleted this option at the dealership or later in life...

They are easy to wire... From memory they have a green, blue and black wire...

Black is ground and I believe blue is hot in run... the Green wire is wired to the same circuit as the back up lights and the unit is designed to turn off when the car is in reverse... Other then that the unit is completely "auto"

I added one of these to my '87 Olds 442 'cause they are cool...

They can be had for about $10 on Ebay... More if you want a built in compass ;)

I'm guessing that hiding above the sun glasses holder is the connector. Most manufacturers install everything in the car, say you didn't get power seats option in your car well most likely you have wires hidden under the carpet that connect to a power seat. This is why I am thinking that it will have the connector.
