98deville
Do all gold cadillac emblems tend to fade? I have some on my cadillac that are faded and not sure if I should buy more gold emblems or switch to chrome?
OynxSTS
Yes, all of the "fake" gold stuff quickly rubs off with cleaning and even faster with waxing... OEM gold plated stuff will last a little longer, but it fades too... This is not a bad thing IMO... I'm not a big fan of the bling bling gold emblems Easin' down the highway in a new Cadillac, I had a fine fox in front, I had three more in the back ZZTOP, I'm Bad I'm Nationwide Greg
bowtie123
I could be wrong, but I think the dealers do all the gold plating on the emblems. I don't think Cadillac supplies any gold emblems. Most of the emblems, except for the hood ornaments, are plastic. The dealers gold plate the emblems with out taking them off the car. The same goes for cloths tops.............all dealer installed today.

It came in a sealed package with a GM part # on it. Also, I have the original Cadillac brochure for that car and they mention the "Gold Package" as an extra, so I don't believe that it's done by the dealer. OynxSTS
You're actually both right... at first this was an aftermarket/dealer only thing... Sometime in the late 90s GM figured there was enough of a demand that they actually offered this as an option on Caddys and some Oldsmobiles too... ick. Thank goodness this fasion was short lived... Though I think you can still option an Escalade this way.. but only if you can sing rap.
