hot starting problems

Recommended Posts

I have a 96 DeVille.

It always starts easily when cold. Lately it doesn't always start easily when hot. It will start but I have to give it gas.

Also, I have had an odd gas spillage overnight around the engine area. Not a lot but enough to stink up the garage.

Suggestions?

Sounds like a FPR leak or possibly an injector leak. Get the codes and post them here; the codes will likely tell the tale.

I agree with Jim.

My symptoms were terriffic cold starts, terrible hot starts.

I had to blip the gas pedal for hot starts, almost like a carburated

engine.

FPR fixed the problem.

If you continue having that gas 'spillage', I would not park in the garage until you find the source

B2560 - RKE Message Validation Error

"PCM?" is asking if you want to enter the PCM mode. High fan = yes, low fan = no. To clear the DTC's, answer yes, then answer no to the next promts til you see "CLEAR PCM CODES".

Thanks for the help. Is it difficult to change the FPR?

Did you get your fuel rail recall done yet? If you have a black pvc fuel rail, take it to the dealer to have the free stainless rail installed. I thought of this because I heard of a few FPR failures after the recall work, although not sure why.

Thanks for all your help and for the picture site. Will do the job as soon as I get a regulator.
