1994 STS Z-Rated...117k.. worth 4 grand?

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure that it is worth ever dollar of six to seven,

I have a little property I need to unload before I can buy it -

I sure do hope that I get to it in time

PS: Anyone who wants a Z-Rated STS could always wire me.. oh, I don't know, six grand ... and..

Just kidding :P

Fred -- get a CarFax on the VIN first to make sure it's real and all there. If it's at all what it appears to be, call your bank and your stockbroker and nail it down.

I suspect that if someone is trying to dump one for that, there must be a reason. There are lots of reasons cars like that go on the market priced for a fast sale. Examples:

  • Bought a new car and didn't like the trade deal.
  • Just got the car a couple of months ago and have tickets: license or insurance problems.
  • Came into another car somehow, and this one is odd-man-out.
  • Repair issue, such as overheating or crankcase O-ring, and the dealer scares you.
Any of these is something you can deal with for $4K. Watch for something you can't deal with, such as
  • Long previous life as a taxicab.
  • Weathered Katrina buried under 8 feet of toxic waste.
  • Torn in half by a freight train.
  • Title laundered in South America.

Very good advice there,

I know how to look out for myself in most car deals :)

This is a simple case of Kansas-itus.

None of these folks know what the car is.

The guy is a farm man and has had the car a long time (Will confirm this with carfax) ... even has his personalized plates on it :)

PS: Now that I remember - he hasn't had it as long as I thought.

He says he has had it for two years,

And it does have an ailment - the AC needs charging (When someone says that I just figure and plan on a compressor)

So long as I run the vin and have the motor checked out I think all will be well

If you can take it to a mechanic you know and trust and a body shop or paint guy you know. If they payed out of pocket and didn't report an accident to the insurance company it wont show up on carfax. (like my deville, I know its had some work done but car fax says its squeeky clean).

The Green's Machines

1998 Deville - high mileage, keeps on going, custom cat-back exhaust

2003 Seville - stock low mileage goodness!

2004 Grand Prix GTP CompG - Smaller supercharger pulley, Ported Exhaust Manifolds, Dyno tune, etc

1998 Firebird Formula - 408 LQ9 Stroker motor swap and all sorts of go fast stuff

I think 4 grand is pushing the button on an unknown item. I didn't pay much more than that for my Eldo 2 years ago.

What I have learned in those two years is that there were a few important engine modifications that happened after the 93/94 models that, in my opinion, would justify looking for a 95+ model.

Two of which are phenolic spacer elimination and horse power increase.

Kent

P.S. I love my Eldo, just waxed her yesterday, but there are variables.

I couldn't meet up on a price with the guy who wants my building so I probably will pass on the car.. but it sure is something that the first Cadillac I go to look at turned out to be a Z-Rated STS, I was amazed. If any of you would happen to want it I'd get it carfaxed and inspected for you and do anything else I can for you.

Cadillac owners are a friend of mine except for the one who was chasing me trying to harm me one time

I suppose I will just pick one up at the sale any way because I'd imagine I could get a '97 or so with less miles for $2000 there

As that one man happened to mention though you do have to be careful of flood cars right now and I don't remember if green light cars would still be alright to bid on ( I think the light only gives you a drivetrain guarantee for the rest of the day there)

I'm still on my first cup of coffee and the dogs woke me all up several hours early

PS: What is a phenolic spacer?

As I remember, the 93-94 STS had a 295 while the 95+ STS and Concours had a 300 ??

The car you are looking for ('94 STS Z rated, 71K) I put on sale on a cars.com. As I can see you can buy car like this for $4K and less.

What I realised after:

I checked my car-fax report for free and was shocked: It says car was involved in "crash accident with another car". Yes, some guy rear ended my car in Brooklyn, but he didn't even scratch it. I report to police, cause i was stupid. Yeah, but "crash accident" sounds very spooky. Second thing, I discovered that my car didn't pass "emission test". How come? Oh, yeah, these idiots couldn't disable the traction control when I came for inspection!!! So, now it didn't pass???

So, I disabled free car-fax checking ability on a page to not scare potential buyers with this crap, I paid for that, though.

Well hell I aint going to buy it from him if he doesn't want me to have it inspected..

So, what is the story on yours... pictures?

Well, it's not like I don't want to sell my car, but you can find car like mine for better price I think. My price is $4999 on cars.com. I saw cars for $3999 and less. You can search for used cars on www.cars.com (Cadillac, seville, zip code 10306) and you will see.

Yes sir I've been all over cars.com ( I love listening to Click and Clack.. you know, Car Talk )

Also I've been to getauto, ebay, etc..

I went out all over this state yesterday and all I could find was a gorgeous 1993 STS for $3000 with.. 176000 miles and an offer of some kind of fancy crazy $120 3000 mile warranty. The guy said hey man well look if anything is going to go wrong it will do it in 3000 miles..

176/3 = 59

The only thing that was tempting was that I kind of feel like a Northy that goes 150 or more will usually go another 100. I offered $2500 I loved the car so much but no deal

Thanks, blunted.

Long time no see.

How are you?

Yeah, I'm selling the car. That's a long story, I still need some time to put myself together and tell about some problems with my car. I like her, but it's time to dump her I think. :(

Ah sorry to hear that. I'm doing fine, I'am able to drive to my new job in Jersey thanks to your fixing my solenoids! I've also been thinking about selling the car but I know I will loose thousands that i've put into it. If it makes you feel better, I can show you my list of replaced parts.

Oh, I forgot to mention.. last week I got a car wash, and she was looking so nice and shiny that someone felt the need to key the hood and the whole side of the car. What has this world come to??

Oh, crap. People like that should be punished by cutting off their arms, no less.

I have a friend, who bought for his sun bright red mustang, very nice. Next day it got "keyed" all around, while was parked in a block from school.

It was everything it appeared to be... and the compressor is just as bad as I thought it might be. Me and a friend looked it all over though and everything else is fine.
