  1. I've been doing a ton of research on the T56 six speeds in the V1 cts v. The shifter in mine is wore smooth out and needs a rebuild. I've seen a ton of options on the V1 shifter from several companies and individual fixes. However, I'm looking to upgrade and looking for some answers that I haven't been able to find. Mainly I am interested in the possibility of swapping the the V2 shifter from a Tremec 6060 to a T56. The features I'm looking for and hoping to achieve are shorter throw, a more positive feel moving through the gates, something with shift stops to help preserve shift forks. the overall feel I'm looking for is something like a Pro 5.0 shifter on a T5 mustang or camaro transmission where it's direct mounted. I know the V cars are remote mounted with a shift rod between the shifter and trans so I know it won't be exactly like the old transmissions. Before I start ordering parts for the stock unit I wanted to ask here to see if anyone has tried this or knows if it's been done or if there are better options. Thanks for any info and help.
  2. Parked my 04 Deville today and when I went out to drive it again the shifter would move freely, when the brake was applied, but the gear would not change from park. (I read a related post on not being able to get out of Park, but that appeared to be more about the shifter not being released when the brake was applied, and I do not have that problem). So, stated another way, I can get the shift handle to move out of the Park position, but the electronic display stays in Park, and you can feel that the shifter moves more freely than it does when working correctly. There was no real warning, it was working one moment, then not at all. So far I've removed a couple torx bolts from the column housing, but do not have the housing off yet. It appears that the hight adjustment lever knob needs to be removed, and I don't know the trick for doing that. I'm hoping I find a cable that just needs to be re-attached somewhere. Any ideas?
  3. Hello all. Just curious my 96 Deville shifter gets stiff when it is cold outside. Is there anything I can do to remedy this or do I have to replace the shift cable? I am not sure if it is in the column, at the trans, or in the cable itself. It is only stiff when it is cold. Thanks. I might also note it does this every year but has not been too much of an issue unless something breaks
