  4. I'm experiencing a crank, but no start on my 1996 Cadillac Deville. The car was running previously and it stalled in traffic out of nowhere to which it would no longer start again, I was able to get it towed back home. I checked the fuel pressure when turning the key to the ON position, not START and it goes up to 10psi and then drops to zero within about a second. I am also not receiving any DTC codes pointing me to any issues. From my research I found that 3 of the main problems could be the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or the fuel filter. I am looking for some help and some tips to help me further my investigation into pinpoint what the actual problem could be. Any ideas?
  5. I have a 96 Cadillac Deville that is overheating and blowing white smoke out of the tail pipe as well as spitting water out of the tail pipe. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Has new water pump, new thermostat, no leak, etc.

  7. Hello folks I own a 1999 Cadillac Deville and I was told by my mechanic that I have a blown headgasket... We have tried using blue devil headgasket sealer which worked for about 1 day and then the overheating appeared again. I was quoted by my mechanic that the job to fix the engine would cost anywhere between 2500-5000 dollars depending on the severity of the damage. Coolant was replaced thermostat was replaced... unfortunately this did not fix the issue I rely on my Cadillac heavily for work and I need a inexpensive fix and fast one ASAP that will last me and not pillage my bank account so that I can continue working. if anyone has any advice on how and what I should do thanks...
  8. I'm trying to swap a ld8 from a 2000 Eldorado esc into my 2002 etc with a l37. I've been looking around forums and have been seeing mixed answers. If I swap the ld8 into my ETC will I experience any issues with the computer acting up? I've been seeing that the drive ratio is different and the computer would have to be calibrated for the ld8? How would I go about doing that?
  9. They said it couldn't be done. Pete at Discount Mufflers in North Little Rock, Arkansas took that as a challenge and used his 30 years of experience as a pipe bender to make it happen. We even up-sized to 3" pipes after the tight bends around the gas tank. The dual catalytic converters and H-pipe will be installed in about a week during a second visit. The fit is tight, but I have driven the car since the installation and there is no rattling of pipes and they do not bump against the underbody when turning or stopping. Note 1: The low spot in the installation as the pipes curve around the gas tank was done at my request since the tank is made of plastic. Note 2: the key to this installation is in making a clamp-on slip joint on the crossover pipe prior to the flange for the down pipe. This is because the right side of the factory Y-pipe is what holds the left side in place. It's a very tight area to work in and welding is not possible there without lowering the engine cradle. Note 3: this job took a full 8 hours to complete because of the design work and installation of the crossover's down pipe flange. Pete stated that now he has designed the modifications, future installations will be faster. Note 4: My car was the experiment. My price is not your price. Call Pete at Discount Mufflers to get a quote for your Northstar true dual exhaust system. Be sure to identify if your car requires bends that go around the gas tank like mine did.

  11. Hello everyone, 96 Cadillac Northstar 4.6L Symptoms high idle and constant revv So I pulled the Intake manifold and coolant started to leak out of the bolt hole(Closest to plug 8) under the intake. Picture included, the leak will stop with the bolt hand tight with the intake off. No Codes. I am wondering is this a head gasket or something else? Would sealant be a bad idea? PS Picture I grabbed from the internet. My car is not this dirty

  13. Hello, I Recently bought a Cadillac deville from a private party and everything was working fine (well except the gas indicator. it wld appear full all the time and out of nowhere the car shut down from running out of gas, but thats another issue for later though) So later on today, in about 4 hrs to be exact, i have to drive 5.2 hrs, so i went to fill up on gas, and as soon as im done pumping and start the car, i get the "Service stability sys" warning and my "ABS" "BRAKE" & "TRACTION CONTROL" lights come and stay on. So I parked and shut down the car, read the little booklet that came with it, turned the car back on since it told me to try that and the message was still there. So i looked online and found a forum that somewhat talked about my issue and it told me to look up the codes and so i did and here's what i got: - ABS : C1214 Current : C1248 Current - IPM : B0419 History : B0429 Current : B1004 History - IRC : U1064 History : U1016 History - PCM : P0463 History : P1617 History - RIM : C0658 History - SDM : B0041 Current If you know anything about this please let me know as soon as possible how to fix it or at least let me know if i should take this trip or not.
  14. I thought I had JE5 brake discs but after putting on one of the Duralast disc I bought from AutoZone, I was concerned that I bought the wrong size. The Duralast was obviously bigger than what was on the car. I'm thinking, it looks like the caliper bracket may not fit. So, I put the disc on--and thought--WOW! That is one pretty big disc! But, what do you know, the bracket fit with about 1/16 to 1/8-inch to spare. Apparently, the discs that were on were not the right ones, which explains why my brakes are gouged/grooved on the inside. The rotors I replaced didn't have enough surface area to accommodate the larger JE5 brakes. I suspected something wasn't right and now the new discs confirm that I was driving around with undersized discs. What else, since the Duralast discs are for JE5 brakes, have more surface area, and fit. My guess--and most logical answer--is that the original factory discs were replaced before I bought the car with the wrong ones. Now I have to replace the brakes a soon as possible, so I don't damage the discs. I also have Duralast on the rear. So far, so good. They are holding up well after at least 6 months.
