  1. I have a 2008 DTS that is overheating due the fans not operating correctly. The fans do not come on. Only 1 fan will come on if you run the AC, the passenger side fan runs with the AC on, the driver side fan does not run at all. I replaced the entire fan assembly (2 fans in the assembly) same thing happened with the new fan. I checked the relays, they tested good, I replaced the relays just for the sake of it, fuse is an inline fuse you can view, it looks good, put a reader on it tested good, coolant levels are good, replaced thermostat for good measure. What can the issue be? why is the driver side fan not coming on, and why is the fans not running without the AC on? This is driving me crazy.
  2. Hi All, I haven't been on the forums for a while - life has been busy, and the DTS has been running great (around 105k miles)! Until tonight. I pulled into the driveway after a 25 minute drive home (80°F ambient temperature), windows down (A/C off), I got the message "AC off due to high engine temp" or something similar. After I turned off the car, both rad fans continued to run for a couple minutes. After dinner, I went back outside and noticed coolant under the driver's side of the car (approximately below the water pump). I plugged in my OBDLink MX and turned on the ignition to check for codes - nothing showed, and coolant temp around 160 as reported by the OBD dongle. I turned on the car and verified that the pump belt was in tact and driving (it was), the temperatures quickly rose to 220 (fans on), and I shut off the car shortly after. I'd also cranked the heat in the car but the air didn't feel hot at all. Based on the location of the coolant dripping, I initially assumed the pump was bad, but when I searched for info on failed pumps, most posts talk about a broken belt. There appears to be coolant in the surge tank but I haven't opened it yet. Do you have any advice to help me troubleshoot this issue? Thanks,
  3. Hello Everyone, So i am having an issue with my 2007 Cadillac DTS. The engine is running extremely hot, however the temp gauge is reading normal. Coolant Reservoir boils and smokes with cap off, and leaks with cap on due to too much pressure. Fans are not kicking on. Block test came back negative for blown head gasket, but the coolant reservoir was so hot it warped the plastic on the block tester. What would be the next culprit to look into??
  4. I have a 2003 cadillac deville dts battery not charging came on display drove car for 3 days thinking it would correct itself, Dash light come and go randomly, PCM? Car finally died 3 days later after dash lights started dancing and dash went black/dead. Took car to autozone they said it was a bad battery i knew it was the alternator bought a new battery and an alternator from o'rileys. Changed alternator car is running good. Heres the thing drl's not on/working when they used to automatically come on any other time. Anytime i turn my lights, turn signals or ac on car stalls and dies. Brake lights function normally. only issue is when i try those 3 features the car dies. So i cant drive at night only daytime. I have not made any changes that require power to the car. Only mods i have done are replace door speaker(not component) and ran the blown rear DVC sub lines to 2 SVC 10' pyle subs. No after market deck or amp. ANy help is appreciated. There have been no major issues with the car and it has 135k on it I recently did a round trip to new orleans. Ryan
  5. I was at my dealer for service and they had these fliers in with the brochures on the coffee tables: Note that they compare a 3.6 l DI with a VIN "Y" Northstar, but overall it looks like the cars *are* comparable. I walked over to one in the showroom and the biggest difference I saw inside was that the console thoroughly separated the front seats; no bench seats in the XTS. The headroom and legroom in the back seat looked OK but I didn't get in and try it. Their GQ has tagged me as a possible buyer and I don't want to encourage them. After all, those guys earn their living with their time and I don't want to waste it. There was an ATS coupe in the showroom. The back seat legroom was miniscule, even smaller than that of my 1997 Eldorado.
  6. Hi all, About 60 days ago while vacuuming I noticed that the passenger side front carpeting was wet underneath the floormat. I did some reading on this site and have performed the following actions to attempt a resolution: 1. Ran trimmer line through sunroof drain tubes that I could find (the rear ones) for about 15" with no resistance; 2. Ran trimmer line through A/C outlet nipple on pass. side firewall, no blockage. Trimmer line ran back until I hit "the end", no water came out. In fact, when A/C is run water does puddle underneath the car as expected. 3. Pulled off cabin air filter cover, cabin air filter element, and RH plastic cowl shields and found no sign of it being wet (e.g. everything appeared dry, felt dry, and thin layer of dust present). The Recirculation vent opens and shuts freely on command and I can see the blower motor spinning. No sign of water on the FW side of the housing. When I pulled back the plastic "carpet bezel/kick panel" and pulled back the carpet, I can see droplets of water hanging off the blower motor housing. The last time I pulled this apart I could see water dripping off the wiring harness to the right (both affected areas pictured and circled in red). Does anyone have additional ideas of where the leak could be originating that it'd be dripping down the blower motor housing? Thanks for any input you all may have. Mark
