I'm experiencing a crank, but no start on my 1996 Cadillac Deville. The car was running previously and it stalled in traffic out of nowhere to which it would no longer start again, I was able to get it towed back home. I checked the fuel pressure when turning the key to the ON position, not START and it goes up to 10psi and then drops to zero within about a second. I am also not receiving any DTC codes pointing me to any issues. From my research I found that 3 of the main problems could be the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or the fuel filter. I am looking for some help and some tips to help me further my investigation into pinpoint what the actual problem could be. Any ideas?

I have a 1996 deville that idle highs at around 2200-3000 RPM when sitting park and when it is in drive it can reach about 30 mph without me pressing the gas. I've changed the following parts and still doing the same thing. vehicle does not misfire or idle rough and starts up immediately. I am stumped. -changed TPS -changed MAF SENSOR -changed IDLE AIR CONTROL SENSOR -changed INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS -changed EVAP PURGE SOLENOID

The car has been wonderful to me but the rust has gotten the best of it and the torque convertor is gone. prices are very reasonable. Interior parts are in very good shape. switches are good. Anything you might need just throw me a message and I will let you know if I have it. I also have some parts from my 1996 eldorado, including black sun visors Dual type. roof console(astroroof one) Climate control unit. U1L stereo. and information system unit. Center shifter trim with heated seat switch. plastic. Prices are negotiable. Thanks for listing

I got this today in a PM: My car had the analog dash, and I never had that problem myself. I would begin by running the OBD codes and see what that tells me. Without the dash display, that's not possible, though. Perhaps a visit to Autozone to get the codes read out for you?

Hi. Shop says I need rear shocks on my 1996 Deville; they're leaking. I love the car. It is showroom. But they say it will cost me $3,400 (in NY). On-line repair estimators verify this amount. Anyone here know any alternatives? I can't spend that kind of money on just a couple of shocks. Is it time to junk my Cadillac? Thanks for your feedback. (

Hi all. I Decided to repair my parking brake on my 96 Deville. It has not worked since I bought the car over 4 years ago. I am replacing everything (cablewise). Calipers are fine. There are 4 cables total. the front. goes from pedal assembly to underside of car. intermediate. Goes from front cable under car to rear suspension. cable goes to right rear cable and housing goes to equalizer for left rear. Right rear cable goes from caliper to intermediate cable Left rear. has adjuster. goes from caliper to equalizer. All cables except the intermediate went in perfect. But The intermediate I just cant get right. I am extremely flustered over this and am ready to pull my hair out. Dealer said it is discontinued. Bought the Dorman cable. States regulat intermediate but it isnt. It is for extended wheelbase model. Way too long and different ends. I bought the Raybestos one this time which looked perfect. But it is not. the cable and housing are about 4 inches too short. MEaning it wont reach to the right rear cable at all. It cant be adjustment problem because housing itself is too short too. The new cable housing is 76" long. complete cable is 87.5. Please if anyone has any info to help me out. I am very flustered and going nowhere. Nobody seems to have any specs for the cables that they sell. I want the brake to function and after the brake loss situation over the winter I would like to have a brake for backup. Also when I am parking on inclines. Thanks for the time and help

Hi, All -- my first post. I have a 1996 Deville -- 96,000 miles -- showroom. Love it to pieces. Recently, it starting missing -- once in a while on idle, always when accelerating. Nice jerking motion accompanied by flashing SES. I gather I could replace the coil packs, wires, dist cap, rotor, sparks, fuel filter, etc . . . spend maybe $750 looking for the "easy" fixes. If these don't work, will I have to junk my baby??? From your collective experiences, how often is this actual engine trouble requiring repairing / rebuilding engine and the associated $3,000 price tag? I don't want to lose my baby!!! Thanks!
