  1. Also the reason for thorough flush is the reason of tranny being stuck in second gear again. All after tranny overhaul. It is second time Im flushing tranny since after lower valve body replacement tranny worked fine. Below I mentioned that after second lower valve body removal I found that small filter between shift solenoids was popped out. Could that be a reason for pressure changes that influenced shift solenoids and limp mode results? Second gear only
  2. No. TC was not changed. That flushing u r talking about was while D engaged with brake on or just in P normal idle?
  3. Just noticed on lower valve body that small filter close to shift solenoids popped out again about half inch or so. I used a new filter with O ring. Could that be reason for tranny going into limp mode being stuck in second? Just to mention. After replacing all solenoids and filters due previous problems car worked fine. Next day bam. From first into second and thats it. I removed lower valve body again and there it is. Little filter popped out.
  4. Is it safe for complete transmission drain to leave oil pan and lower valve body removed while unhooking oil return line from radiator? Drain plug also removed. I want to drain remaining oil while engine and transmission running in "D". Thanks
  5. Hi, looks like transmission is getting stuck due to some kind of debris causing problems in lower valve body. It is probably being sent into tranny from torque converter so we are planning to flush the tranny by running engine and letting fluid exit through the auxiliary cooling radiator in the front. But I have another problem regarding engine which is occurring when engine is cold and that is - very rough idle and engine stall, almost. When engine is hot problem disappears. The collant is disappearing as well as so it might be blown head gasket that was changed - 100 miles driven on new one. Im very concerned about FEL - PRO quality of head gaskets form ROCKAUTO that seem to give up. When removing intake manifold I found oil present on valves. Could that be seals on valves in camshaft?
  6. Regarding that tranny stuck in second gear. When replacing lower valve body we again found and removed some dirt - debris like from a cloth used for wiping parts clean. Question stands: is it possible for torque converter that had not been replaced or thoroughly flushed to send debris into valve body or somewhere else and cause blockage?
  7. Hi guys, here is the update after few weeks of waiting for parts. As mentioned in previous communication, Cadillac Seville has been suffering with "Stuck in second gear" condition, ABS and TRACTION CONTROL light on. Used EBTCM unit (the brain part) replaced = ABS and Traction control light is GONE, car breaks normally. New LOWER VALVE BODY put in transmission = car works and shifts as smooth as before. Happy, car fixed after 4 years of on and off finding what was wrong with it. Next day car is stuck in second gear again. I mean WOW. What the ...

  9. 0Line pressure test update: minimum and maximum line pressure as listed in GM manual within required limits in Drive Park Reverse and Neutral. List of codes available: TC0027. TC0073. P0741. AC1340 and codes involving memory alive.... No codes for shift solenoids. Sonnax company is asking for ridiculous money just for tool set in order to install valve body rebuild kit so better choice is going for a rebuilt lower valve body unit with guarantee for 239$. When changed along with EBCTM unit will let you about car's behaviour. Thx for help on this so far.
  10. Tranny technician did not have time for line pressure test today so on thursday I ll get back to you with results + codes somewhere in my notes. Thx
  11. Appreciate that. By the way car is located in Slovakia central Europe. Some of you NHL fans might heard of Marian Hossa from Chicago or Marian Gaborik from Los Angeles Kings. Also Zdeno Chara from Boston Bruins.
  12. I will provide VIN tmrw. Car is at the shop. You are right I will speak to transmission guy and we ll go for lower valve body. Solenoids are fine so we check again valves and springs. Clear. The only transmission code remaining is P0751. Apart from that are TC related 0027 and 0073. Rest of it is my notes at transmission shop. The thing is that the guy has done a research on that transmission and he is also suggesting that EBCTM unit is delt with first to see how transmission reacts after that. The problem here in Europe is we dont have sufficient testing equpiment for GM cars of that age 1996 model so we have to go step by step. I have fluid flow charts printed out for him so hopefully we will find out what to do next.
  13. It is japanese export that ended up in europe. It is a left hand drive like in the US.

  15. Hi. Will provide codes tmrw. Transmission guy has got my notes. Thx for patience
  16. Hi. Yes looks like I got it mix up. Sorry what is a transmission A code you mentioned?
  17. When it comes to EBCTM unit, I will replace it anyway since there is no ABS function on brakes (have checked car behavior on light gravel, car is skidding like mad). Do you recommend changing just that "BRAIN" part on EBCTM or changing the whole unit with brake lines as well? I have been warned about buying this stuff from EBAY since when purchase is made, item is delivered first to family address in New Jersey and then send overseas so having faulty unit after 3 - 4 weeks would not make me happy. Any recommendations about reliable company for EBCTM units on the market? Lastly when EBCTM is replaced is PCM going to recognize it? Thanks a lot.
  18. Appreciate that. My transmission guy has warned me already that if pressure testing is within limits he is refusing to take furter responsibility unless I have TC control sorted out so it looks like Im gonna have to do some ebay or rockauto.com searching for rebuilt EBCTM unit. On tuesday I will know more after he gets line pressure checked. Thx
  19. You guys are great in helping out. I did send you my email in private message through this forum 3 times so it apperantly had not arrived. Pls use this email: milansky77@hotmail.com Regarding TC 0073 code. Is that code requring replacement of EBCTM unit? I will get back to this post again at work from my PC since im using my mobile to reply most of the time while Im on the road. Thanks again for your help
  20. Hi. After that TRICK I mentioned we rechecked all solenoids in transmission and they all show required OHM reading as listed in GM manual to make sure no death sentence happened. I should be getting colour diagram of fluid pressure to see how fluid flows within during shifting after selecting "D". This could help us figure out possible blockage somewhere not allowing first third and fourth gear. We are rejecting electrical faults and we are more and more assuming manual type of fault. Too bad so many kits on the market for transmission overhaul but none I found was including new springs or valves for valve body if that is assumed cause of second gear only situation.
  21. R u suggesting replacing that valve and springs and .... basically everything displayed in that advert? We are concerned about troubles within lower valve body and u r pointing to upper valve body. Hmm.
  22. 1) Is this the same transmission case that was rebuilt or was another ( rebuilt ) transmission purchased and installed? It is the same case with all gaskets, seals, filters and solenoids replaced for new. 2) Where was the transmission overhauled? At a private garage/service guy. I know it is risky but this supposed excellent. They say...Anyway he is ready to open it again. 3) Was the torque converter replaced? NO, before transmission was removed converter was checked for slippage at dealer claiming there is no need for converter replacement. How a dealer done the testing I have no clue 4) What is the line pressure? Since Im based in Europe not yet we r looking for a proper adapter for line pressure port. 5) What voltage were you applying to the shift solenoids and the TCC solenoid? 9v ? 10v ? 12v? 12V. 6) How did you control the applied voltage? voltmeter 7) Did you personally overhaul or assist in the overhaul of the transmission - if so, are you 100% sure all the check balls are in the correct locations? yes, technician was provided with original GM service manuals. This should be OK. 8) A list of ALL the codes hard or soft, current or history. Cadillacs systems, and those of other vehicles also interact with each other Have to find my paper. Will get it later. When it comes to line pressure, does anyone have a color diagram where it is clear how fluid flows during gear changes? It would help to clarify possible causes for not having FIRST, THIRD and FOURTH gear. Thanks, you guys are great.
