  1. I need a picture how the STS 1998 splash shields in front looks like. Please help!
  2. The 2008 CTS. Can it be electrical locked? Seems rare, as you say, that both rear doors acts like this. It was low batteri, perhaps can have something to do with it?
  3. Thank you for answers. I have put a bid on the auction and will see on Wednesday if I will win. If so I will try suggested key-trick. Will let you know if so. I also noticed that both back doors was not possible to open. I heard the remote unlock both doors and the knobs went up, but impossible to open with either the door handle outside and inside. Any suggestions?

Yes, no sound at all from starter but electrical stuff sounds in engine then turning the key to on (before starting mode), like pumps etc. The instrument cluster light up normally but Theft-Deterrent System are on even then turning the key to on mode. Doors open and locks with the remote key. Seems to have something to do with the Theft-Deterrent System?
  5. I'm interested to buy a Cadillac CTS 2008. The problem is that the car doesn't start at all. Electrical, battery etc. are fine but no chance that the car starts or even give a sound then turning the key. No fault codes found with Tech 2. A issue that may set this problem is that the car have lost both keys and a locksmith made new and also had them connected to the car. The locksmith are very good and said that the car and keys was connected but the car didn't start anyway. I have googled the subject and found same problem but no solution. Any ideas?
  6. Thanks for answers. Hm, the flashing battery lamp wasn't on before just after the alternator repair was done so it seems unlikely the battery wirings will mess. Seems more likely it's a regulator problem. The generator doesn't load at all on any rpm. However I will check the battery wiring just to be sure.
  7. After a "check charging system" error my shop repaired my Cadillac STS 1998 generator (one diode and regulator was broken). Reinstalled the generator and everything. Started and the "check charging system" error was gone. But the dash boards says the battery load is only 11.8 V and the warning battery lamp on dashboard is flashing fast! No error codes to pull out. A mechanic said it probably is wrong regulator installed. The electronic shop checked but says it's correct regulator due to their manuals and connections to generator are correct. Does anyone have a clue what to check for?
  8. I got a RSS C1761 error (RF Position Sensor) and need to buy a new sensor. Have looked at Rockauto but can't find any. Suggestion where to buy for best price? Need to be shipped to Sweden.
  9. Solved. Changed the module and it works. (yes, the battery isn't in best health, but didn't set the rim code).
  10. OK. Have disconnected RIM and attached again same problem. Have looked for the red device and clips onto the hot cable at the battery, but can't fint it. Do someone have a photo? I assume it's close to the battery under the rear seat? I still think it can be a burned fused. Is there any fuse related to this issue?
  11. @Cadillac Jim No other codes (just and RSS error I had since before), Can be a fuse, wiring or ground issue or the RIM i damaged. @JimD Thanks for the suggestion. I will try this.
  12. Thank you for answer. I have cleared the codes several times but the error is set as CURRENT (not history). I have checked the connections and they seems OK. I have also checked the battery it gives 12 volt.
  13. I recently got error code rim b1327 on my Cadillac STS 1998, this means I got a "Vehicle system voltage below 9.0 volts". The problem appeared after the battery was drained and recharged (I have reset the OBD test several times but still got the error code). The battery is in good condition and I have recharged several days. Car display show the generator load is 14,2 volt and OK. No problem to start or drive the car, or any corrosion on cables etc, just this error message. Any fuse that can be broken and set the code (the battery was recharged first time from + in engine compartment - not directly to the battery under back seat if this can give any trouble) or any other possible common explanation?

On my car the last filter didn't fall down (as I wrote in my step-to-step guide) so it was blocking then I tried to get the new filters in place (1 and 2 worked fine but then old filter 3 stoped the last filter to fitt). I'm pretty sure you didn't forgott - but did you got all 3 old filters out, so there's no chance an old filter blocking the new filters? Try using a endoscope to see whats blocking the passage.
  15. You have the second and third locked in the rails (of the first one, and third to second rails) I suppose? Can you get a endoscope to look inside, perhaps something stopp the filter?
  16. Just to update this issue. After doing the heads I have driven my car for two years now, seems to work great! No problems with leaking water etc any more.
  17. Jag har bytt garageport till en som har har automatisk öppning via fjärrkontroll. Eftersom min Cadillac 1998 STS är fabriksutrustad med HomeLink Transmitter (inbyggd sändare för öppning av garageportar) vill jag gärna börja använda den. Jag har följt instruktionerna ifrån manualen för att programera bilens sändare men får det inte att fungera - kanske går det inte att använda med den standard Europa använder jämfört med USA? Tacksam om någon kan ge tips. Enligt manualen: 1 Turn your vehicle off and press and hold the two outside buttons on the car's garage door opener. This will reset any previous or factory codes on the transmitter. 2 Hold your remote garage opener about 2 inches from the system in your Cadillac. 3 Press and hold the button you wish to program on your Cadillac system and the open button on your remote at the same time. 4 Release both buttons when the red indicator light on the Cadillac system begins to blink rapidly. 5 Press and hold the Homelink training button on your Cadillac system to finish programming. If the light remains solid, you're done. If it continues blinking, continue with the following steps. 6 Press the "smart" button on your garage door motor. This is usually located near the antenna wire on the back of the unit. 7 Press and hold the Homelink button on your Cadillac system within 30 seconds of pressing the "smart" button. 8 Release the button after 3 seconds and the indicator light should blink solid. If not, repeat this step up to three times until the light is solid and the programming is complete.   18. What phone network was used in export cars for Germany? I need to know to unlock the phone in my Cadillac STS 1998 that original was sold to Germany.

Seems like it's possible to buy a unlock code from the web, example http://www.mobifreedom.net/unlocking/unlock-codes/how-to-unlock.php?targ=device&vend=nokia&nokia=nokia-6081 Seems rather easy to unlock. But I need to know that phone network that was used in Cadillacs exported to Germany. Someone that knows?
  20. But still I have to unlock the phone with a factory code I suppose? Just like cell phones that are locked to a brand.
  21. The phone module is hidden i the trunk, left side. I have added a SIM-card from a Swedish operator (Telenor) and can make SOS calls (at least the display on the phone says so). I have e-mailed GM Europé and they regret they not is able to assist on technical issues (!). How ever they did add a local dealer in Sweden to contact. I will call tomorrow.
