  1. I looked under the hood. I don't see the emissions label. Weird, huh? By the way, I'm still looking for the Tech 2, because I would like to program two new key fobs that I purchased for the car. If anybody has one, please let me know!
  2. I like it but it says that it is for 2006 and older obdII systems. FlashScan V2 supports the three major OBD protocols used by GM vehicles: OBDII CAN for scanning, data logging, reading and re-programming most 2006 and later model years. OBDII VPW J1850 for scanning, data logging, reading and re-programming most 1996 to 2005 model years. OBDI ALDL for scanning and data logging most 1995 and earlier model years. From another page... 06-09 Cadillac DTS 4.6L I've had EFI Live V2 to program my Duramax for a year and a half. I knew I could reprogram LS-1's and some of the newer 6.0 L V-8's but was not aware that I could modify any Northstars. Please don't tell me I'm dreaming... Nope... you are not dreaming... It can do ALL KINDS of stuff to a 2006 and newer. You can do the ECM "AND" the TCM and remove the dadgum GM nannies (torque control and timing retard) that are in the transmission. This is awesome news! I've removed every nanny device from my Duramax, and have it getting 22 MPG on the freeway with my custom tune. 4x4 7000 pound trucks are not supposed to get that kind of fuel mileage. Stock, it got 19 MPG. It took months of tweaking to find exactly how I wanted it tuned, but it is now officially time to take aim at a gasser for once. While my diesel is set up to liquefy the tires, I will make sure to keep the Northstar docile. I don't feel like putting new head studs in anytime soon.

  4. The 85 Deville had a 4.1L V8 from the factory unless someone transplanted a 4.9 in it. I was assuming he meant 95 Deville. My 85 Deville couldn't pass a tired old F-150 if its life depended on it. I hadn't thought about that old car for quite some time.
  5. I figured I would update this thread while I was thinking about it. Turns out it was a bad coil pack. But anyhow, it runs much better. It still has an intermittent shake at that isn't serious enough to set off the CEL. After pulling a few plugs, and finding the one that smelled like raw fuel (#8), I told her she needed the coil pack and to order some new OEM plugs from GMPartsdirect.com. Does anybody know the gap specs? I remember back to the 4.9 L was .060, but it seemed to me the N* had a smaller plug gap.
  6. I'm writing to see if anybody else has had this issue with their Sevilles. I have a 2000 that seems to not allow me to change the feature programming to "on". This is really annoying because the doors lock when I start out and will not unlock when I put it in park. This means every time that I have to physically unlock the doors before it will open for anybody. Plus I want to turn off the stupid curb feature on the right hand mirror, and it won't let me. I have thought about resetting the battery, but wanted to first know if anybody else had a trick up their sleeve!
  7. Woah, no way it would cost that much to replace a cheap air line. This is a load of BS. I really hope you don't let them as much as change out a muffler for you. If they're that shady, I wouldn't trust them to even air up my tires.
  8. I would call the dealer with your VIN. I had a '92 Deville and it did not have that feature. Maybe the Fleetwood 60 Special did though during that year...? Your best bet would be to go aftermarket with a remote starter or something. They could program in some of those features, perhaps.
  9. Has anybody ever retrofit a 2001 Seville steering wheel onto a 2000 Seville? I just really don't like the 1998-2000 steering wheel layout and feel the 2001 steering wheel is where it's at. Has anybody ever done it? Any particular issues that caused major headaches?
  10. But I did some more investigating today. I found cylinder 8 was fouled with gasoline. I'm not used to working on things with spark plugs anymore! Anyhow I hear the 2000 northstar had some serious problems with ignition packs going bad. I checked the resistance of every coil pack and they were all around 5k ohm. The car runs like it has an almost solid dead miss. Now I need to get the car she just bought back to the shop so they can put the module on instead of me. Those things are like $200 per bank. So if you have a control module laying around I would love to have a spare! Other diagnostics I performed was to check the resistance of every fuel Injector. They were all at 23 Ohms.
  11. Hey guys, I'm trying to diagnose a P0300 on my girlfriend's 2000 Seville SLS. I live in Minneapolis, MN and I would like to have use of a tech 2 for an hour or so to see if I can trace down what is going on. If anybody has a tech 2 and would be willing to let me come over and hook the Seville up, I will bring you some of your favorite beer, or do some other favor. Any help would be appreciated!
  12. Hi all, I haven't owned a caddy in a while but the girlfriend recently bought a low miles 2000 SLS. She is out of town and is getting a flashing check engine light. Does anyone remember if a 2000 Caddy can be put into diagnostic mode like my old '96 Deville could be? If so, she has the blender buttons, so I don't know what to use in conjunction with the "off" button. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
