great job, now the only draw back is when you need to slide over for any reason, i cant think of any off hand, but i know they exist....

my pop had a 92 deville and when my car was being fixed (which has the center console) , i used it on on a date with a special girl. I tell you it was great, I just put up the arm rest and she slid over and we cruised around with my arm around her for like 45 minutes before we got to the theatre. Its a luxury my 96 sts cannot allow me to have....

I suggested this to you when you first made the "conversion" but you said that it would be a bit much. Somehow I knew you'd get around to it. I really like the look and can't wait to see the finished product.

Well...a update. The Buick look is gone.

Not exactly a drop in conversion. But pretty close.

First, the center seat belts have to come out. The are rivited to the seat corner mount. No big deal..

At first look, it looks like the column trans shifter cable is the same as the floor shifter one. Well, the cable mount is about 2 inches different. It could be done with one cable on the assembly line....but I guess they decided to use 2 different ones. It could be a '2000 console' and '2001 car' part change issue.

So anyway, had to come up with a bracket for the old shift cable. This is a double redundent design...so it wont fall apart someday at 80 mph..... it'll work fine.

Another interesting issue. The DTS console uses a different console to body harness connector. Strange...the DTS connector has plenty of slots available. Anyway, not only do they use a different connector....some of the wire terminals are different sizes between the two. So there is some soldering and heat shrink needed here. *Also a service manual to match circuit to circuit between the DTS console and the Deville body. A couple of wires are even different colors....strange for GM. They are known for using just about the same color on every car thru the whole circuit.

Removing the column shifter and interlock. Not that bad...but the top of the column has to come apart.

Kind of the final product. Need to get a few parts from Cadillac. Need a new upper and lower clam shell for the column to fix the shifter hole, need the forward carpet extensions for the console, a couple of more tidbits and 3 more wires it will be done.

Thanks Larry...

The really cool thing....everything is working, and its been done right. The cluster PRNDSL display works perfect with the shifter.

Funny thing....I sometimes still reach for the column shifter to park. Hahahah...I guess I need to be retrained....

I also find myself driving around in 3rd playing some.....hmm...what a floor shifter will do to you...

Logan it looks excellent! Job well done. Larry, I bumped my nose "Big Time" once on the steering wheel of an old Caprice that needed to be started out with the gear selector in L1 (Tranny was shot). I had been driving my 4-speed Camaro all morning. It was time to go to work (2nd shift), so I got in the "Work Car". I started out in L1 and when I shifted to D, I pushed in the "Clutch" which happened to be the POWER DISK BRAKE pedal. OUCH both in my nose and head for being such a dolt...
