PLEASE DESCRIBE TOPICS BETTER!

Recommended Posts

Again this is not personal, I am going to point out a couple of threads, but it is NOT directed at the member that started the thread. Understand that clearly!

There are MANY MANY examples, but please see this thread and note the topic title.

HOW TO SEARCH FOR A LEAK

Is this a coolant leak? Is this an OIL leak? Is this a transmission fluid leak? Is this a sun roof leak? Is this a rear window leak? If this a trunk leak? Is this a vacuum leak? Is this power steering fluid leak? Is this a leak in the braking system?, A leaking wheel due to flaking chrome? OR is this an AC system LEAK?

Do I need to GO ON?

Not only do I need to open that thread to see what kind of LEAK it is, MY and OTHER MEMBERS time is being wasted having to do so. I would NOT open that thread if it was about a leaking sun roof, as there are a whole host of members that have direct experience with it!

I would not open a thread that was about a power steering fluid leak. While I understand them and have changed hoses, pumps etc, I have NEVER had to deal with a leak in the system so I don't have direct experience with it.

I rarely post to TIMESERT threads beyond general information as I have NEVER timeserted a NS. I leave that to our TIMESERT GURU'S.

I spend more time thinking about how to name a thread than I do writing it. In addition, our SEARCH function has the ability to search TOPICS. If you don't put a pertinent word in the TOPIC you don't find the thread! Lets all try to be more descriptive in the topic names and description lines so that we can be more efficient PLEASE!

One more thing that is out of control, topics that say nothing but whoa as me stuff. Titles like this; Oh I am screwed now, I hate my caddy, what do I do now, what now?, why me?, turn my stomach. We all have problems, we are driving a machine that needs maintenance, just as our bodies do. Wipe your nose, get tough and diagnose, fix it, get it fixed, or sell it and buy a Hoover, oh I mean Honda, but keep the dramatics to yourself.

One more thing, at our Cadillac meet in New Jersey, one of our members said he expected me to be a miserable old man, hopefully that is not the general opinion. That is not the case. What happens to me, is that I ignore the problem, and delay my reaction, because it would be nice sometimes for someone else to step up and say something like in the old days.

Anyone that thinks that this is not suppose to be an orderly environment please PM me and explain how a helter skelter, inefficient environment makes any sense? If you have been paying attention you have noticed a couple of members saying that SEARCHING is a useless task. And I am beginning to agree with them as my searches have been becoming time consuming. Because they can not search efficiently because of NON DESCRIPTIVE and Whoa as me titles, we see repetitive stuff that has been extensively discussed. That means that much of our historical time spent here posting is wasted and we must repeat ourselves.

Sorry for the RANT, but it's for OUR own good, and I have gone into this before. I just thought I would be a little dramatic myself

  • 2 weeks later...

... and another thing!

Not to go on a rant here, but after posting a problem, and all the generous spirits on the forum contribute the wealth of their experience and then .... nothing. No final post that explains what the solution was!!!!

So, I second bbf's issue - state the problem clearly in the topic (summarized of course) then tell us what the solution was. We all benefit, right?
