Jason's 1997 SLS

I acquired this car from my mother, who purchased it certified pre-owned at about 44,000 miles from A. Moore Cadillac in Tyson's Corner, VA. It's had its share of repairs which I wouldn't consider unusual, like an alternator, A/C compressor bearing, strut mounts, a power window switch, etc. Nothing major, and nothing reoccuring, except for the strut mounts.

The car traditionally used lots of brakes...requiring rotor resurfacing every 20k miles or so. I installed a set of Powerstop cross-drilled rotors on the front and they work great. It's been at least 40k miles since the install and the brakes are still straight and true. I would recommend this to anyone looking for improving the front brakes on their Cadillac. http://jadcock.oldsgmail.com/cadsls/rotors.html

I tried an open-element K&N air filter and then removed it because I didn't like how the car drove with the filter on there. It's back to a paper filter now. http://jadcock.oldsgmail.com/cadsls/filter.html

I also installed a 12-disc CD changer, as my car didn't have that option from the factory. http://jadcock.oldsgmail.com/cadsls/changer/changer.html

See info on those items and more on my maintenance page. I included everything I've spent on the car save for oil changes and the like. http://jadcock.oldsgmail.com/cadsls/maint.html

Now, for the pictures. Most of these were taken in Shawsville, VA, in the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain chain. The last one is at our home in southern North Carolina, where we've lived since May 2003.

Hey Jay,

Kyle here. I have the same car as you do and very happy to say that I am keeping the car. Considered trading it in a few times. Everytime I thought that I was turning it in I go for a drive and PUNCH it. Then I remember why I bought it in the first place. Best color of all too. Shale (Champaign) :P

As for repairs I have to agree, nothing more than normal wear and tear. New alternator, rear rotors and calipers. going on set number two of rotors. These things keep warping. Goint to follow your advice on the cross drilled cut rotors. Pricy but sure worth it. New issue with powered sun roof. Easy fix. Great to know that this forum is here. Look foreward to reading everyone'

s messages.

PS how do I insert a pic of my car???

It would be best to start a new topic in the main discussion board area, and towards the bottom of the new thread screen, there's a place to Browse to a picture on your harddrive. You can upload it with that, but it has to be 100 Kb or less.

Welcome Kyle!
