Mary88
I have the Symphony Sound radio in my '88 Sedan Deville, not a Bose system. The radio has been emitting loud cracks and splats for while. Today, it was quiet but the front driver side speaker is dead. Does this sound like amplifier noise? Are all the electronics in the head unit? Do the 4 speakers each have a separate amplifier? Anybody have any pointers on this subject?
BodybyFisher
A radio or amp of that age will have leaky bad capacitors. Yours is not a bose but bose amps suffer from bad caps as they age. I am not sure if yours has a separate amp for each speaker as the bose does. If you Google your radio, you should be able to find shops that will re-cap and repair it.
