2002 Eldo trunk latches but won't pull down

Recommended Posts

I saw several older posts similar to mine but all the pics are long gone. My son sat on my 2002 Eldo trunk (at least that's the story ;-)) and the lid popped up. It still latches and unlatches but the latch is fully extended (and does not move in the slightest) and motor does not engage to pull it down when the lid is latched into it. I've reset the switch in the trunk lid (which got it latching again) but am wondering about the pull down mechanism on the deck. There is a large flat flipper switch connected to a small plastic T. I can see that the T is currently above and not touching what appears to be a small metal switch below. Is this correct? I tried to get it below thinking the flipper engages the motor, but it doesn't seem to have enough play. I've learned my lesson on randomly taking things apart on this car so just wanted to ask the experts. Pics would be great. Many thanks!

There is a switch on top of the pulldown that goes bad and causes that.  Its about $30.  Get in there, check fuses and connections, if all is good, replace the pulldown switch.

Push the flapper down at the motor, then push the switch at the lid latch (no panel removal is necessary.)\

See if that resets it.

It should cycle the motor pulling the arm down, once it clicks let them go.

If it does not cycle at all check the fuses in the trunk at left side behind the seat (accessed from the trunk) by removing the 4 plastic studs under the deck, then the carpeted panel just drops down and slides out

Good luck to you

Thanks BodybyFisher and rockfangd! Tested the wiring, checked all the fuses, tested the motor - as recommended by BodybyFisher it was the pull down switch. $22 part and easy replacement. On to the next problem....
