International Computer Codes

A mate has a 19999 Cadillac, that was imported from Japan to Australia. The computer error codes are for Japan, and just wondering what is involved in having them displayed for Australia, or for USA. To do this, is it necessary to replace a module that contains the computer chip, or is it a matter of reformatting the existing module, so it reads codes as Australian. The way it presently is, an error code was displayed, say Error 99 for example, which was subsequently traced   to a fuel problem. The same Error code in the USA could relate to a exhaust problem, as each country has different regulations, and allocates numbers for there own requirements. To complicate matters, if you have a Japanese chip, and look up the error code as Japanese Cadillac 1999 error code 99, you get a search result, in Japanese. .

Look foreward to receiving any advice, or video links that may address this problem.

What model 1999 Cadillac?

Hmmm....no reply.....I will assume 1999 Seville STS model.

In my GM stuff.....looks like a new DIM module is needed and programmed to the correct 'point of sale' configuration. I highly recommend checking further into this before committing to a new DIM module and programming. I highlighted the point of sale in bold.
