Up on the main menu at the top next to Forums Calendar Subscriptions you should see "Supporter Chat". if there are people in the chat you will see a small numeral with how many. The chat opens in a new window and you can keep it open separate from the forum so you can browse the forum while waiting for people to join the chat etc. It gives a sound when people join, or post.
