Bruce Nunnally
Interesting article at Conde Nast PortFolio on the CTS: http://www.portfolio.com/culture-lifestyle...ew-Cadillac-CTS This is apparently the premiere issue of this new magazine dedicated to business intelligence. The new 304hp 3.6L engine is 49hp more powerful than last year's 255hp 3.6L, 49hp/255hp=19%. It is 44% more powerful than the 2007 base CTS' 210hp 2.8L V6. They are correct in that the non-DI 3.6L VVT V6 engine is now the base CTS engine, rated at 263hp for 2008 (was 255hp in 2007). In 2007 the base engine was the 210hp 2.8L, so that is a 53/210 improvement for 25%. The addition of the direct injection 3.6L engine seems the bigger story to me, however. The previous 3.6L CTS had a dual exhaust; the 2.8L had a single exhaust. So base CTS to base CTS, yes the 2008 3.6L non-DI base CTS has a dual exhaust where the 2007 2.8L base CTS had a single exhaust.
