JimD
I do not enjoy working with the plastic trim panel fasteners that Detroit uses. On the panels that will be removed more than 2 or 3 times for service during the time I own the car, I look for ways to "improve" the access. Here is my modification to the panel over the radiator / headlamp area on the 2000-2004 Deville. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i101/Jim...et/DSC01775.jpg A stainless steel acorn nut over a stainless washer over a rubber washer. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i101/Jim...et/DSC01783.jpg Exploded view. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i101/Jim...et/DSC01784.jpg The bolt is an "elevator bolt" = 1/4-20 (from Lowes hardware department) Use your favorite J-B Weld or Loctite chemistry to mount the bolts. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i101/Jim...et/DSC01785.jpg Fish the bolts in place this way. My '98 Seville was modified by tapping existing holes and using stainless bolts. Easy on and off. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE ! Nikolai
Wow, very nice. Too bad my cover was all rotted and fell apart or I'd repeat the mod on my car.
