Ok this is a video of my car. You'll need to shift somewhere around 5900RPM. Maybe a tad bit sooner. When you put it into 2nd it's going to lag. You're not going to feel the shift as soon as you move the lever. If you do it too late it will shift like normal. Some people claim, and it has worked for me too, that you can just leave it in "2" and it will shift hard on it's own. Just get used to how the car shifts and you'll find the perfect timing.

Early on sailors navigated by the stars at night and the North star became the symbol for finding ones way home. Once you know where the Northstar is you can point your ship in the right direction to get home. So the star became a symbol for finding ones way home or more symbolically even finding ones path in life.

AT WOT, manually shifting isn't going to do a anything. The reason for the lag when you upshift, is the car shift at 6200rpm just like it was programmed to do. When you manuall upshift into 2nd at WOT, it will continue to hold 1st gear until it sees 6200rpm and then it will shift to second. You can't force an upshift at WOT, since the car is programmed to shift by itself at that point. The only way you are going to manually upshift the car at 5900rpm, is to lift your foot off the gas while doing it. What all this means, is that if your looking for really fast acceleration, just leave it in 1st gear and floor it. The car will shift into the next gear when it needs to.

edit: Firmer, harder shift are better for the transmission since it reduces slipping between the clutch packs when engaging the next gear. That hard slam into second though, does shock the rest of the drivetrain. Doing it every once and a while is not a problem, but I wouldn't recommend doing it at every light.
