Workers at the GM Manufacturing Plant in Spring Hill have developed a worldwide reputation for building quality four-cylinder engines over the years.

Now they’ll have a chance for the first time to produce bigger, more powerful Small Block 6.2-liter, V8-cylinder truck engines. The automaker announced Wednesday it will invest $148 million into the plant and build them here, creating job stability and potential for future growth.

In addition to assembling the 2017 Cadillac XT5 and 2017 Acadia, Spring Hill workers will create the horsepower for trucks such as the Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, GMC Sierra Crew Cab, Yukon Denali, Yukon XL Denali and the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV.
