rockfangd
can someone tell me where thhe coolant temperature sensor is located on a 97 Seville. The one for the ECM. Also is there one or two? reason why I ask about one or two is because many vehicles use 2 sensors, 1 sensor, and one sender for the gauge. but it seems there is only one on the northstar. BodybyFisher
This is the description in the manual Left hand rear corner of the engine, below the exhaust gas recirculation valve Here is a gif file the ECT is #3 Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
rockfangd
looks like it is on the crossover housing possibly. Also is this the only one? GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile
Logan
Fisher may have posted the wrong picture. The coolant sensor is screwed into the rear cylinder head, drivers side end, under the EGR and brake booster area. The coolant gauge gets its info from the PCM data. So there is only one temperture sensor. BodybyFisher
NO its NOT in the crossover its under the crossover in the rear head. That photo came DIRECTLY out of the GM SI manual and #3 is the ECT sensor You will notice that NONE of the plugs are plugged in in the photo, so its exact location is not definate, its approximate, but it is a bad photo, Ill post another Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
BodybyFisher
Its part of the rear wiring harness, in this photo its directly below the EGR, but again its only approximate, but there shouldnt be anything else in the area it should be clear, beside you know what a temp sensor looks like, it should shout out to you Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
CoupeDTS
it looks like its impossible to get to, look behind the throttle body down by the head and it sticks out. Theres all kinds of things above it that make it look impossible to get to but you can actually fish your hand down to it pretty easy and get an air wratchet on. * 1966 Deville Convertible * 2007 Escalade ESV Black on Black * 1996 Fleetwood Brougham Black on Black V4P -Gone* 1983 Coupe Deville Street/Show Lowrider -Gone* 1970 Calais 4dr Hardtop GONE* 2000 Deville DTS - Silver with Black Leather and SE grille GONE* 1999 Seville STS - Pearl Red GONE

The left is showing the tranny for orientation and the right is close up. The green item in the center is the one.

I seen at the junkyards yesterday someone removed the heads on a northstar and there in the valley between the heads I seen a starter Is that really where the starter is mounted? Under the intake?
