barkboy6
Everytime I have put in a new 10 amp fuse for my cooling fans it's blown. What could be causing this? Someone told me to just straight-wire it, but I don't really know about wiring other than some car stereo installations.

The cooling fans are on the same circuit as the AC compressor clutch, if your clutch has overheated and shorted it will blow the fuse. Try disconnecting the AC compressor at the compressor and see if the fuse still blows Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

And if that is bad then that would keep the A/C from working, i.e. it's not blowing out air? Because I've been having trouble with the A/C lately, too. I can feel cool air but it barely comes out, only sometimes will it blow out air normally and for only a few seconds at a time.

Typically if the hub bearing is bad it will make a growling noise, how does it sound? When the cooling fan fuse blows you dont have AC do you? I have a 96, and the cooling fans and AC clutch are on the same fuse, not 100% sure about 95, but check. Check if your clutch engages with the cooling fan fuse blown, Ill have another look at my manual later Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
barkboy6
There aren't any grinding sounds or any other unusual sounds at all that I know of. Just the normal sounds of an engine. The air/heat does "work" meaning that the air is either cooling or heating depending which is on, but it just doesn't blow out--I have to put my hand to the vents to feel it. Now it will blow out in bursts but I never know when it will happen. The car is parked at my dad's house so I will check things out tomorrow when I go over there. That sounds like a bad HVAC motor, does it blow out to the FLOOR or DEFROSTER? barkboy6
No it doesn't blow out anywhere when I turn it on. Like yesterday I drove it for about 10 minutes with the air "ON" the whole time and finally it blew out normally through the vents, but just in a couple short bursts. It did seem like it only blew out right before it changed gears. I've had to use the defroster a few mornings and sometimes when it's raining, and it's the same thing...it doesn't blow out but comes out just enough to "defrost" the fog on the windshiled, but I have to have a constant speed before it will even do that. BodybyFisher
It sounds like you have a bad HVAC motor this is a common problem, the old motors could be damaged by EMF given off by the ignition wires and the controller was damaged, the redesigned motor has a shield that shunts the EMF away from the controller board to ground. You most probably need a motor Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

BodybyFisher
Is there any way to test the HVAC? And where is it located? The motor is located in the center of the firewall just under the hood. If your motor is intermittant its a sign that its bad. Do a search here under blower motor, HVAC motor Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

You most probably need a motor So would a bad HVAC also cause my cooling fan fuses to blow immediately or is that a sepereate problem? And I finally got to check my A/C compressor clutch and it makes a click sound when I turn the A/C on. It will engage for maybe 10-15 seconds then click again and stop. It'll start up again after a few seconds, but it's ON and OFF like that. Is that normal is that a sign there's a problem?
