Catera Help

Hello everyone,Yes I`m the new guy here and I hope someone can help me.OK,#1,I have a 97 catera with 83k on it,my question is is there such a part called a evap system selinoid? If there is where is it and how hard is it to replace?Question #2,Can some tell me how to remove the shifter knob on my catera? Thanks .lou

If the shifter knob is like many other's, examine it closely, look for a large staple pressed into it from the forward side.

Carefully pry it out with a small pick or screwdriver. Then knob will lift off.

I don't have a reference for 97, but my 99 Catera reference says for EVAP Cannister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement:

1 Loosen the fuel filler cap in order to relieve the system pressure.

2 Remove the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

3 Remove the valve bracket mounting bolt.

4 Disconnect the harness connector from the valve.

5 Disconnect the purge line and the vacuum source line from the valve.

6 Remove the purge valve.

For the gear selector the only reference i can find is that you can Remove the gear selector boot from the console by gently pulling on the front end of the boot.
