If there is where is it and how hard is it to replace?Question #2,Can some tell me how to remove the shifter knob on my catera? growe3 Posted January 11, 2008 Report Share Posted January 11, 2008 If the shifter knob is like many other's, examine it closely, look for a large staple pressed into it from the forward side. Bruce Nunnally Posted January 11, 2008 Report Share Posted January 11, 2008 I don't have a reference for 97, but my 99 Catera reference says for EVAP Cannister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement: 1 Loosen the fuel filler cap in order to relieve the system pressure. 2 Remove the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement in Engine Mechanical. 3 Remove the valve bracket mounting bolt. 4 Disconnect the harness connector from the valve. 5 Disconnect the purge line and the vacuum source line from the valve. 6 Remove the purge valve. For the gear selector the only reference i can find is that you can Remove the gear selector boot from the console by gently pulling on the front end of the boot.
