Im sorry guys but my 2000 dts is overheating cant figure it out

I have a 2000 dts that I purchased from an owner that said it was overheating I check the car out and i noticed that the car didnt have the normal head gasket sighns so I bought it. So I drive the car to my house and it was not over heating the drive was at least 3 miles long and I had no problems the heat was working fine. So 2 blocks before I got to my house it started going crazy the temp gauge almost went to hot but I had parked the car up. I let the car sit for about 45 minutes and then restarted it I let the car sit at idle for about and half hour the temp sat at 12 o'clock and didnt move so I drove it around the block and it started to move up so I parked the car again and started doing my research on here. I took the car to my mechanic and replaced the thermo and water pump. The water pump was a little rusty but still good. I refilled the car with 0ne gallon straight antifreeze and 1 gallon water. So we started the car and got the same results it sat at 12 o clock and then started to go up. So we felt the radiator and realized that one side was hot and one side was cold so we figured that the antifreeze wasnt circulating threw the radiator so the next day i replaced the rad and tried again this time i took the thermostat out same story as before. I went back on the forum and did some more research I found out about the purge line which confused me because you have one line coming off the surge tank and another line right beside that that runs across the engine. I had pulled the line off and realized that it wasnt flowing freely it was spitting and the other line barely had any thing coming threw it. So i took the two lines off and ran water threw them they flowed freely. I then started the car to see if coolant flowed from the water pump side where the tw0 3/8 hoses were they were randomly spitting coolant. I reconnected everything and started driving. I drove to the barber which was about 4 miles the car stayed at half then i drove back home it moved a bit but then went back to half so i was happy. Then I went to my moms houses ant it started going back up. Now I was mad and preparing my self for the dreaded head gasket. I went to autozone to get a block tester kit to see if any gasses was in the antifreeze I followed the instructions and realized that the headgasket WAS NOT blown. Now Im confused Radiator was replaced thermo, and water pump only thing I didnt was the cap cause that looks new just like the radiator was and my fans work. Can u guys please shine some light on my situation

Northstar #1 Misfire

Hello all:
My first time doing a forum so here goes. I have a '97 Deville with a '99 engine in it. About a month ago i picked up a minor miss thru all ranges. Within about 3 weeks time it turned into a full blown Cyl. #1 misfire. I have enough knowledge to be a little dangerous so here is what I have tried so far:
Swapped plugs with known good one no change
Installed one new wire on that cyl. no change
Swapped coil pack with another one no change
Compression check over 100
Installed one new injector no change
Cleaned grounds at ICM no change
Checked for Vac leaks couldn't find any

I have tried everything that my 20 years experience has let my think to check and the problem stays at the #1 Cyl. it does not follow the parts around to any other cyl.
I have always repaired my own equipment, but this one is kicking my butt!!! I really like my (Daddylac) It is my first one and hopefully not my last but I'm going to need some help on this one. Thanx for your time. J. Johnson

Hey guys, I forgot to add that when I pull the wiring plug off the injector at #1 it seems to make no difference in the engine performance. Does anyone know how to check the trigger there? is it just voltage or what?

there goes Christmas

Purchased my used SRX with 44,000 miles on it a year ago. For most of the past year, I have dealt with the check engine light. 3 out of 4 times, it was the catalytic converter (been replaced 3 times). Other time was low oil (oil indicator was fine by the way)...

Check engine light came back on the day AFTER my last service visit (in September). Assumed it was yet another cat issue - so wasn't in a hurry to bring it in (as dealer told me no damage done). BTW, all cat visits were covered under basic emissions warranty. Finally took it in today -- they tell me the code is not cc this time, 2 codes coming up: P0446 & P0496. Rep basically told me that it's a purging issue - fuel vapors are supposed to be trapped by the canister. It's not purging anymore. Need to replace the vent valve and re-calibrate.

Here's my question. He said I'm looking at least $950 for this work (which includes my 30% employee discount -- which he gives me because he feels sorry for the amount of time my car spends there)... Does this sound right? I'm no mechanic, and I'm bummed this is not related to the cc issue (because that didn't cost me anything but time and irritation).

Also, on that note, when I fill my car up -- about 50% of the time it turns over but won't start. I have to turn the key again and then FLOOR it to get gas to it. I guess that likely supports what's wrong. Should I pay $950+ for this? I'm sick to my stomach. There goes my kid's Christmas. Should have kept my old '95 4-runner and put a new transmission in it. My service record file for this SRX is already twice the size of my 14 year old Toyota 4-runner. That said, this is obviously a nicer ride. Any advice you veterans can give this distressed, clueless Mom in San Diego would be great. Thanks.

Not a big deal but it would be nice to fix the problem. I called the Cadillac dealer and he said that the bulbs were internal and the whole unit would need to be replaced for $150.
Halp ! 1997 Seville STS HVAC wont run, new fan

I recently picked up a 97 Seville, and one of the things that needed fixed was that the blower motor wasn't running. There's power at the 12v going into the motor, and the ground seems to be good, so after I did a little searching around here, and saw that the origonal motors tended to go bad (and the one in the car was the origonal judging by the 1/2 inch plate, etc....), so I went ahead and swapped it for a new one.

Which didn't fix the problem. (Much to my dismay having shelled out 400 bucks for a new motor, and having dinked around moving the engine, etc... etc... to swap it).

The next thing to check I assume is the blower motor resister? Where would that be located and how would one gain access to it?

I'd think it was a fuse or relay or something since I've never heard the fan run at all (bought it in unworking condition), but than there shouldn't be power at the 12v correct?
