mhinchley
where is this sensor? Don't have a drawing showing. P0135 Bank 1 sensor 1. Thanks. Already changed the one by the radiator (P0153 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Slow Response Bank 2 Sensor 1) , now I have another out. Ok though. I got all 4. Just need to know which one this is to change next.

Poobah
Unfortunately, that is the one that is extremely difficult to reach. It is located between the engine and the firewall where there is just no room to work. There's a special socket that helps with the job. Good luck! Happiness is owning a Cadillac with no codes. Got her done today. Was hard to get too. I went and bought an 02 sensor socket though and worked out well. Hard to get out, but fell right into place with the new one! BodybyFisher
My cousin in Virginia is getting this code in a 96 SLS: Bank 1 Sensor 2 - pre-cat Has anyone changed this O2 sensor? Is it easy to get to? And is it easy to remove? I am going to get an dedicated O2 socket and I will bring all of my breaker bars and handles. My guess is that this one is easier than the one in the rear manifold. I am driving down on Friday, Any ideas or tips? JimD
Take your rhino-ramps with you. Soak the threads with a "safe" penetrating oil, overnight if possible. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
BodybyFisher
Good idea about the ramps Jim! I would not have thought about that... I will do that. I would imagine that its easier to remove the sensor while the muffler system is cold. stsjoe
B, actually letting it run for about 2 minutes would help get the thing loose. I've had to do that changing exhaust gaskets, cold you couldn't budge them but get some heat in the manifold (not HOT) and the bolts came right out. At some point I'll get you to help me upload the pic's I got of the Cien and Sixteen. Where in Va. is your cousin? Joe

Did you get it from under the car, what tools did you use? JohnnyG
And remember, No SILICONE GREASE on the connectors! The reference O2 sample is pulled from the space between the wires of the connector (fresh air). Plugging that space with any kind of grease may render the sensor useless. Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.
