Found this in old thread. http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oe-gm/19300076 Is it the real thing for me?

I seen this one but it says "real time damping" I took that to mean F45, BUT it's worth a call to verify.

Aftermarket ones almost always can be used on either side.

Thats not always the case with OEM ones.

Not so much the strut itself but the welded on brackets can be different from side to side. I would double check before having one shipped.

Well.... Got confirmation from dealer in US that the partnumber above 19300076 is correct.B)

Total cost was however "no sweet deal". Shipping matches part price and on top there is toll and taxes. All together it will come to around 1.500 USD.:(

May reconsider.

Rockauto = 582USD - 5% = 553. Shippingkost the same (hazardous goods). Toll + VAT ~ 500USD. Total over 1600. (I underestimated the last time)

Shipping will be less, if I want to wait a few months, by boat. I don´t want that.

Nothing on ebay! Amazon will not ship.

Found a used strut in Sweden at ~ 650. I don´t value "new" like 1000.......:(

Ohhh, sorry I was trying to help, didn't know all of the other costs.  Wow..  I shipped an entire engine to Amsterdam for $500.  Why so much for shipping a small and comparitively light item?  Anyway I can help?  What if I ship it?

@BodybyFisher here is a brief on it;

A magnetorheological damper or magnetorheological shock absorber is a damper filled with magnetorheological fluid, which is controlled by a magnetic field, usually using an electromagnet. This allows the damping characteristics of the shock absorber to be continuously controlled by varying the power of the electromagnet. Fluid viscosity increases within the damper as electromagnet intensity increases. This type of shock absorber has several applications, most notably in semi-active vehicle suspensions which may adapt to road conditions, as they are monitored through sensors in the vehicle

Yes, that fluid (and under preassure) seems to be the problem. I´m very greatful for your offer BBF but I don´t think any of us should take that risk! Even with reduced shipping cost it´s still way over a grand.......

Learn something new everyday.  I wouldn't have thought that was hazardous if they are packed correctly.  If I recall they are compressed with a high tension strap.  But I suppose if they were in a fire they could become dangerous or maybe in flight they could pop from the altitude?

I wonder if they are considered hazardous to ship within the US?

I can't believe that GM wants to sell cars there but they don't have a provision for selling the parts to avoid this type of problem.   There should be dealers there so that this can be avoided.

While wating for parts i began thinking about the (LF) ABS speed sensor.

Integrated in the hub. Does that meen I have to change the hub?

The OBD code pops irregularly. Sometimes at start -sometimes after 2 or 100 miles. Hmmm......

Yes, if the wheel speed sensor id bad you have to change the hub. Have you verified it is bad?

It is a easy job to do....

I only have a 96 manual, you have a 2002, for an exact spec we need someone with the 02 manual, its located in the ABS/TCS SECTION 5E2 in the 96 manual.  I need to get my GMsi going again, it was working terrific and either a windows update or program install messed it up.

In the 96 manual it was 900 to 1300 ohms at 25 degrees C (77 degrees F).

Check wiring for slits, splits, wear through  and check the connector for corrosion that will cause drop outs in sensor signal data.

Thank You BbF. Ohm will only tell if coil is ok? Since this is intermittent I suppose it is possibly a failiure in the hub? I guess You can read Volt when running as well? Any specs on that?

It will only tell you about the health of the coil, correct and given this appears very intermittent my gut tells me your test will show its ok.

When the wheel is off the ground grab at 9 and 3 o'clock and see if have any play.  Bang the tire inside with your fist or a dead blow hammer and listen for looseness.

Check all connections for corrosion since its intermittant at the hub, where it connects to main system about 8 inches from hub.  Take connector apart and inspect

Get on highway with no cars and do S turns like F1 cars do to warm up tires and listen for a groan or moan at 40 to 60.  Any moan or groan replace the hub bearing.

To test the speed sensor's output you need a tech2 or scope.

There may be a way to read real time data through the DIC to observe the sensor pulse data.  Ill look at 96 manual.  There is a way to see real time data, its actually where the Tech2 gets the RT data from

I think the hub is history.

1. The ABS fault.

2. There is "knock, knock, knock" at low speed when turning (L or R). Can be heard and felt in stearingwheel.

3. Sometimes there is a "drag" (L or R) when turning at speed inspite of the alignment performed last week.

I think this may be a wheel bearing?

What tools do I need? Any tricks? I´ve seen different versions depending on breaks. How to determ what I need???

Be careful, an axle can do that also, knocking....    My experience is that they don't knock unless really bad, and because your code is intermittant my gut is that its not that bad

Look for a split.inner or outer boot on the axle
