OldCadTech
Check the hinges and make sure that both have a clear path. Are you hearing the noise from the pull-down motor? jmerino805
Hindges are fine I hear the noise from the pull-down motor. It starts going down fine, but right before it goes down all the way I hear a loud clunk. I'm worried it'll break and won't be able to open the trunk. thanks. Cadillac Jim
Check the lock itself and see if the mechanism is sticking. It might just need some grease. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. KHE
The pull-down assembly will emit a loud cluck when the deck lid reaches the fully closed position - it is the paddle switch that is a limit switch that cuts the power to the motor at the down position. Could this be what you're hearing? Is there any way you could record the noise and post the video? airmike
I agree with KHE, it does make a clunk at final close. However I wouldn't call it a load clunk, and a recording would help to decide if it is normal.
