When you enjoy one brand like Cadillac and enjoy reading a lot on this and other forums about Cadillac, it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking Cadillacs are not engineered as well as some other brands.  That is not what the objective evidence suggests based on user surveys and reliability studies.  I find it refreshing now and then to be reminded that the problems and solutions we know with Cadillac are not unicorns in the automotive world.   Modern automobiles are more efficient and reliable than they have ever been, but continue to have failure modes just as if they were complex electro-mechanical systems of systems, which they are.
