throttle body, car won't start.

It first started with key getting stuck in ignition, then dead battery. So I disconnected negative cable waited about 30 minutes then reconnected cable listened to component activate noticed throttle body engage then started, now I have to repeat process everyday, not sure what's wrong but think it maybe ecm problem or ground issue?? Someone please help..

I believe that the 2005 model year was the last year that you could read the OBD codes through the dashboard (A/C buttons, codes displayed on the DIC). There is a link in my signature block on how to do this with a Cadillac. If this doesn't work for you for any reason, you can get the codes for free at an Autozone and many other parts outlets. Post the codes here.

The key getting stuck in the ignition may have something to do with the interlock with the transmission shifter. If the starter solenoid is not clicking, the refusal to start can also be caused by the shifter telling the PCM that the transmission isn't in Park, or that you are not pressing on the brake. If the starter solenoid *is* clicking, or the car is cranking but not starting, I would start by checking the battery, the battery cables, and the stoplight switch, then the PRNDL switch in the transmission.

This is all just a first cut. Please let us know if the solenoid is clicking, the motor is turning over but not starting, etc. Also, post the OBD codes.

As Jim noticed above you need to extract any diagnotic codes for failed tests or devices from the PCM.

Explain the problem you describe regarding the key getting stuck. How did you get it out?

The problem is, the issue this car is having is probably caused by a B body code. It sounds like it could be related to the security system. I forget which parts distributor can pull codes, this car had CAN, will they be able to pull any codes other than P codes? Something tells me no.

If you have OnStar, push the blue button and ask the operator to read you the codes. Make them read them slowly enough for you to write them down. If that doesn't work for you, you need a code reader. Autozone and others may be able to get the codes for you, but be sure that they get the B[ody] codes.

I buy 100 minutes every year for $40. The newer cars include a WiFi hot spot for your cell phone or laptop, and you can buy huge data blocks for that through the on-board cell phone.
