Bruce Nunnally
I was happy to pay $1.879 per gallon with a grocery store discount for a full tank of premium 93 octane last evening. Grocery stores sometimes accumulate member points and offer a discount on fuel. In this case the discount was $.40 per gal. BodybyFisher
I find it curious that gas prices tend to drop as presidential elections approach. With all of the tension in the middle east low prices run counter to what you would think. Bruce Nunnally
I was reading an interesting article that instead of peak supply - the idea that we were going to run out of oil in our lifetimes - we may instead see peak demand. With new technology for harvesting oil and reduced consumption we may have more oil than we care to use. Quite a difference, going from $100+ per barrel of oil to $50 and large producers competing for customers. Now if we could find a profitable way to harvest 1/2 of the .04% of the atmosphere that is co2 we could solve the climate issue. KHE
Gas is $2.14 for regular where I live. They'll probably spike it 30-50 cents in the next couple of days - that seems to be the pattern. BodybyFisher
I had read that the oil price was dropped to put the USs fracking and the pipeline out of business. If that is the case, that is good in a way, because if the price rises again those technologies will become attractive again. I hate that we dont find oil from sources other than those in the middle east. I am surprised to read you last paragraph, you think CO2 is an issue? James Woods
I read somewhere that for the 1st time this year the USA imported less than half of the oil it's using daily. That's quite a change.
Bruce Nunnally
The United States imported approximately 9 million barrels per day (MMb/d) of petroleum in 2014 from about 75 countries. Petroleum includes crude oil, natural gas plant liquids, liquefied refinery gases, refined petroleum products such as gasoline and diesel fuel, and biofuels including ethanol and biodiesel. In 2014, about 80% of gross petroleum imports were crude oil, and about 46% of the crude oil that was processed in U.S. refineries was imported. The United States exported about 4 MMb/d (millions of barrels per day) of crude oil and petroleum products in 2014, resulting in net imports (imports minus exports) of about 5 MMb/d in 2014. Net imports accounted for 27% of the petroleum consumed in the United States, the lowest annual average since 1985. http://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=727&t=6 Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube
