2002 Seville transmission impact on gearshifting

Recommended Posts

Hello, need your advice again.

At last, my caddy can moving again!!

1. When It's turning on, gearshift to 'Drive' and 'Rear' is very smooth and my Caddy runs powerfully.

2. But not more than a mile run, there are noisey impact when gearshift to 'R' and 'D'

3. Surely there is 'check engine soon' sign.

4. After parking overnight, above '1' and '2' happen again.

5. Trans oil level is sufficiant and oil color is clear.

What should I do?

What is your engine RPM? Right after start up and when it does that noise? Its possible your engine is racing. A dirty throttle body can cause the throttle plate to stick

Do you know how to check for DTC codes? If you do call them up and post them here. If you dont let us know and we will give you the procedure

The first thing to do is to run the OBD codes and see what is happening. Be sure and note which codes are CURRENT and which are HISTORY. See the link in my signature block for a Caddyinfo "how-to" page on running your OBD codes. Write them down and post them here.

To Cadillac Jim & BodybyFisher

I bought a bluetooth OBD code reader for my Caddy, but it's impossible to connect to ECU of mine.

It works with another car but not with mine.

Engine RPM is normal range in idling and driving. very very stable and smooth.

I wonder why there is no noisey impact at first, if transmission is in bad condition?

When my Caddy sleeps overnight, what mecahnism makes the transmission returned to normal gearshift?

I guess there must be uncertain conspiracy of solenoids with transmission oil.......-_-***

You don't need a code reader - the car can display codes on the information center. Simultaneously press and hold the OFF and INFO UP buttons until the segment check stops. You will then see ALL? Press the ON/OFF button to display the codes.

To operate the diagnostics, the following buttons are used:

  • ON/OFF = Yes
  • INFO RESET = No
  • INFO UP/DN is the toggle to between systems
  • To exit the diagnostics, repeatedly press the INFO RESET button or turn the ignition to OFF.

Any codes will be displayed on the DIC as CURRENT or HISTORY.

You can also post your OBD codes here and have the experience of Caddyinfo people brought to bear on the problem.
