We have the Mercedes AMG GT S, Bentley Continental GT3-R, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Cadillac ATS-V, Volkswagen Golf R, Porsche Cayman GT4, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mercedes-AMG C63 S, Lexus RC F, Cadillac CTS-V -- all gathered together on an abandoned airstrip at El Toro Marine Base to find out which car is the fastest. Obviously these 10 competitors display a wide range of power and performance, so why do we continue lining them up for one, over-the-top drag race?... Because We Can!

World's Greatest Drag Race 5 concludes our special 2015 Best Driver's Car Week here on the Motor Trend Channel. We hope you've enjoyed all of this week's videos and we look forward to rolling out an all-new batch of amazing cars and amazing videos for you next year for Motor Trend's 2016 Best Driver's Car!

CTS-V 11.9s @ 122 mph

ATS-V 12.2s @ 114.2 mph (in solo testing MT said 12.3 @ 114.6, so very consistent)

I like side by side testing as it presents the exact same conditions except driver impact. I would suggest multiple runs to see what variances, and rotate drivers to see what changes, but good fun regardless. I am not sure based on video how each time was measured.

I would also like to see a version of this test from say 1951 - or every decade since.

There are a variety of times in quarter-mile courses: response time, first 100 yards, 0-60 mph time, 1/8 mile time and speed, and of course quarter-mile time and speed. You can tell a lot from that information.

I like to have lap times on a couple of courses with different layouts too, but that's a lot harder to get. And, it is hard to get numbers that are comparable, just like drag strip times, because differing temperatures, barometric pressures, surface conditions, humidity, sun heating of the surfaces, etc. makes comparing numbers obtained on different dates difficult to compare.
