DETROIT – Cadillac will use an advanced mixed-material approach for the lightweight body structure of the upcoming CT6 range-topping sedan. The structure is aluminum intensive, but the new Cadillac also includes 13 different materials customized for each area of the car to simultaneously advance driving dynamics, fuel economy and cabin quietness.

Nothing too new here; perhaps more intensive (or integrated) than before. Some of this integration is more widespread (these days) due to enhancements in bonding materials (adhesives) and such. Even my STS has aluminum hood and rear deck though I see by the descriptive drawing the mixture goes much further deeper in scope. I am looking forward to see what the CT6 brings.

The proof of the pudding will be in the weight. The ATS is ~3,319-3,693lbs, and the CTS is ~3,600-3,986 lbs. IF the CT6 is larger than a CTS and weighs less then good.

One thing I am sure the CT-6 will bring is a very hefty price tag!

And it won't sell (due to the price), and it will be dropped in short order.
