Can you remove a northstar in your garage?

I checked the transmission temperature of my CTS-V yesterday at the end of a long trip on the Interstates and it was only 168 F. That will keep moisture from accumulating from condensation but any significant amount of water would take awhile to dissipate at that temperature. Of course, it's not the 4T80E, but the 4T80E is well-known as an under-stressed bullet-proof transmission and I'm sure that its running temperatures are similar.
