Odd and Even Banks on Northstar

Sounds like you're making great progress with the car.

More and more, I will check the local parts houses for items that I thought were dealer only parts. $30 for a 10 cent o-ring is ridiculous but what do you do if you need it and they have it? I wonder if you were to put the o-ring in the freezer for a few hours if it would shrink enough to fit back in the groove?

The ISC motor adjustment procedure (from my memory) is to depress the closed throttle switch and the plunger will move away from the throttle plate. When the plunger is fully retracted, unplug the electrical connector to the ISC. Then adjust the gap between the plunger and throttle plate to the specified distance. I think the distance is .030".

Mike, I see that you referenced cleaning terminals with emery (emory).

Abrasives made from emery are conductive and the dust can cause high tension arcing to ground. I use maroon Scotchbrite for such tasks.

Thanks Britt, yes I did clean the coil towers with emory, but I cleaned the coils afterward with 91% alcohol, but thanks for the tip, Ill use that scotchbrite method going forward.

I picked up the throttle body oring, $33 including tax, I would call it highway robbery but that would be an understatement.

Well I assembled the clearned up throttle body and cleaned up ISC motor, turned the key and it ran beautiful, lots of power, no misfires, smooth acceleration, good pedal response and the ranging idle is gone, the ISC motor works perfect! WOW....

These cars really benefit from maintenance. Next I need to diagnose the dead HVAC fan, the diagnosis tree in the manual looks great.
