The XTS in Cadillac XTS is a striking name. Cadillac changed from memorable names like Eldorado, Seville, 60 Special, to 3 letter names to change with the times, and to sync up with the competition.

I'm thinking that the XTS is for lu"X"ury touring sedan; I don't remember if I saw that some place or how I derived that. As in others: DTS Deville Touring Sedan, STS Seville Touring Sedan, XLR eXperimental Luxury Roadster, etc................................though since the Seville STS would seem redundant, I always thought as the Seville STS as the Seville Sports Touring Sedan.

Bruce,

First I want to thank you for posting pictures of Cadillac Row at Cars& Coffee. This row is getting better every month. Members of the North Texas Cadillac & LaSalle Club have worked hard to remove the Mustangs from this area. Please come every month.

Now, here are the "official" Cadillac designators.

CTS = Car Too Small

STS = Still Too Small

ATS - Actually Too Small

XTS = Extremly Terrific Sedan

DTS = darn Too Small

ETC = Extra Tight Coupe

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...
