JimD
Okay, will a 2000 STS "9" engine fit into a 1999? A 2000 engine will mechanically "fit" in a 1999 chassis. The bad news is the 2000+ engine electronics is very different and your 1999 chassis wiring will not plug-and-play with a 2000+ engine. And that's before we get into the internal engine changes that occured in 2000 and how that renders your 1999 PCM not compatible. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE ! levenezia123
This gentlemen selling the 2000 said that he also is including the computer and electronics along with the engine, would this fix the issue of the PCM, or is it even more internally complicated? Thanks for your help. If this one is out of the question, what years absolutely will be okay and which years are not okay. Thanks again.
KHE
The 2000 engine will NOT work in your 1999 car. Even with the electronics from the 2000 engine, it would be a major if not impossible job to get it to work with the other systems in the car. A 1999 engine would definitely work. I would think a 1998 engine would also work since that was the first year for your car's platform.
