Texas Jim
If the service engine light is on... there is a code set. Go to the link below and pull the codes yourself. It can be done by using the buttons on your dash. Post the codes and the definitions here. Then we can help you fix whatever is causing the light to come on. http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html

BodybyFisher
Check for codes using the on board system NOT a reader, the reader can ONLY get P or Powertrain codes, there are codes for other systems that a READER does not get to. Read the bottom of this post for retrieving codes for your year and model and post the codes here. Erasing codes does NOTHING toward actually FIXING the problem, it just erases the DTC code and when the test fails again, it sets again. It is necessary to FIX what is causing the light or code. BodybyFisher
Bruce, we are getting a lot of these types of posts where the new members are not reading the basics, I have seen two other posts like this in the last few days, While there is a subsection READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING, is a new member directed to that subsection?, or must he stumble upon this subjection, if they read this subsection, we would not need to spoon feed new members, can this LINK be pushed at a new member and they be encouraged to read it? http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=15254 Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
