coolant leak on deville

My car is leaking a lot under the radiator. when i park the car , it will leave like a line of coolant sometimes. I took it to get an oil change and they inspected the whole car. they told me that it might be the crossover lines under the radiator. is it the same as the lower radiator line sold at any part store??

Make sure it is not leaking from a cracked side radiator tanks (usually the inlet one). Take a flashlight and check for cracks.

it could also be leaking from the upper or lower radiator hose and running down the front onto the subframe. Is it coming more from the driver side?

very good. Usually the leak originates at the thermostat housing, as it is cast and corrodes. Glad to see you fixed it. Did you see the commmon rub spot on the upper radiator hose towards the passenger side?

I have a 1998 DeVille with the same "driver side coolant leak". The leak appears to be up near the upper hose but it remains dry after running and the leak continues. I have inspected the hose and it appears intact. I was curious about your comment about the "side coolant tank". Is it common for the radiator to lake near the drivers side just under the intake? I suppose I could just replace the hoses and see if that solves it.Thanks

Take the hose off, check to see if the flange to the radiator is cracked. Look inside the nose for ruptures that send coolant out of the reinforcement channels in the walls, I have seen a hose look perfect and then have coolant leaking out of the end of the hose out of the reinforcement holes. Check the clamp for tightness and integrity

Inspect the plastic tank on the driver's side of the radiator. That is the radiator inlet tank and with age and miles, it will crack and leak. If the inlet tanlk is cracked, any radiator shop can replace the tank for you for much less than the cost of a new radiator. The opposite (outlet tank) will last indefinitely.

When you inspect the tank that KHE describes look for dried white residue. It remains after the coolant evaporates through a crack, when hot coolant leaks it immediately vaporizes when it hits the atmosphere.
