My client wants it done correctly. I have seen many pictures of 49s but none look right. Is there some one of you that can difinitively indentify the correct graining for the '49 Club Coupe? What is the correct way for the graining to be described? For example, if you knew the type of wood? Thanks for the photos. The first one I saw earlier and that definately is not right. That was done by hand and looks cartoonish. The second one however does look to be original as can be seen in the glove box. It was typical of GM to leave the inside of the door a different color to co-ordinate with the lining of the glove box. That grain is what I would call a tight burl with not too many "flames" or big swirls. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Di-noc appears to have become a part of 3M, who lists di-noc textures on their site here: http://catalog.dinocfilm.com/ That surface may be similar to WG-881 http://www.idsfinishes.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=36&pos=76 but certainly your eye would be better than mine on selecting from the samples shown. Also no guarantee that they still offer a texture from the 40s. Might be reasonable to call them and ask if they can index the 1949 Cadillac texture though. I had forgotten all about di-noc. Of course by the forties they could no longer do the graining by the old print method, too slow. I thought they had gone out of business. You are a wealth of information. I most certainly will attempt to contact 3-M to see what they may have in their archives. Again I thank you.
